movies will catch on soon enough. by next year, many TVs will have 1.3 HDMI. HD movies will be optimised for 1.3 before long.
this is another great feature that Sony made to PS3. it may not matter much to some, but in a locked system that will be on shelves for at least ten years, having 1.3 HDMI will matter to many more buyers a few years from now. think 'Future Proof' ;)

Thanks Z I didn't know if you needed to have a TV with HDMI 1.3 to take all the advantage of the PS3.
If that is true, you saved me from spending 2700€ for buying a Sony Bravia 40" X serie.

I'll wait for the same TV to have the HDMI 1.3.

it is easier to get models that are available of both than to go back and find older models. in any case, it doesn't matter since they have the exact same resolution.

for those who already have an HDTV, they don't have to upgrade. but for those like jako and I who are yet to by one, it would be better if we just waited a few more months to get the best possible out of PS3 in the long run. after all, I won't upgrade to another TV set for at least a decade after I get a new one. ;)

What I'm waiting for is the perfect TV to match PS3's specifications.
so that I can play games and watch Blu ray movies in perfect conditions.
As I have no really pb of money (I still won't buy a TV more than 3000€) I was thinking of this bravia X serie.
I'll wait now..

then you'll be happy to know that the Bravia X series is one of the, if not the best TV out there. just wait for the 1.3 HDMI ones and see how big a screen you can afford with what you are willing to spend. I think 3000€ would be enough to get you a 46" model. ;)

early next year. by early, I think they mean with in the first 3 months of the new year. check out cnet.com or Sony's site every few weeks and you're bound to get a launch date- if one isn't announced yet.

as for me, I'll either get me one of those, or I am not changing my poor standard definition TV. lol
