i know that a few of you will have been fortunate enough to get a PS3 whilst the rest of us, mere mortals, will have wait a little longer. i thought it would be nice to have a thread for all you owners out there to chatter amongst yourselves and basically make the rest of us extremely envious. feel free to gloat! what if all of you put a thumbs up in your sig so that we can see who you are....
congratulations on your purchase!
i'm sure we, mere mortals, will swing by occasionally and ransack this thread for hype ;)

Resistance (of course!) and Genji 2. There's gonna be a midnight event on the Thursday the 16th, so I'll be lining up maybe an hour early with a friend and taking pictures. My buddy is buying me a 2nd controller as a late birthday/early christmas present, and Friday, when I get paid, I'm gonna get 2 more controllers, and if I can manage it, Ridge Racer 7.

I'm not sure if it's coming next week or not, but if it does I think I may be stuck with Tony Hawk Project 8 for a couple of days, it shipped out last week. :)
But... I think I'll get
Tony Hawk Project 8
Ridge Racer 7
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (pending reviews for PS3 version)
Fatal Inertia
Genji Days of Blade
Resistance
Feverously debating if I should cancel my Wii. Completely unstoked for that.
MUA is very good btw, it's Balder's Gate Dark Alliance on steroids.

I'm gettin one when the first price drop happens (if its still affordable) and affordable to me is cheaper than the premium 360 (all in CDN $'s)
Im gettin a Wii @ launch (waiting for a game like twilight princess since the launch of nintendo's LAST console does this to you)
And i would have had enough $ to get a ps3 if i DIDNT get an HDTV....buuuut the way i look @ it is MGS4 launch = PS3 (if its more affordable too)
Besides i have way to many PS2 games to play

I would definitely get NFS Carbon.
Hey.
I picked up a PS3 in Yurakucho yesterday after waiting for 14 hours. It was absolute chaos from the very beginning. For some reason the Bic Camera guys wouldn't let anyone line up, even though they were one of the only two Bic Camera stores who were doing a first come first serve campaign. The rest of the stores were all handed out by lottery.
Anyway, because no one could line up in front of the store everyone just formed these huge mobs across the street, and on two occassions, one was a false start, the mob just move in nearly crushing people on the way. Eventually at 5:00 a.m. they finally started forming a line the wrapped all the way around the building. Luckily I was near the front, but even after they started selling them at 7:00 a.m. my position in line didn't budge one inch for nearly 3 hours. It wasn't until I went home and saw the news that I even knew Ken Kutaragi had come and passed out the first PS3. At the time all I heard was a count down and some clapping. A co-worker of mine who was further down the line didn't get his until 12:30, but he got it.
In the end it turns out that the store procured over 1,200 units, so most of the people who initially lined up went home happy. Although to tell you the truth there were probably about 3 to 400 Chinese students there who were being hired by someone just to buy the machines so they could hawk them on the net. So, not everyone there was in it for themselves.
My impressions on the machine are that it's very nice.
It's quite silent, I would say quieter than the first PS2, and very easy to set up and play. I picked up RR7 and Resistance. RR7 is really smooth and looks fantastic in HD as I saw it at the store. Resistance is, however, the showpiece software for the launch. It's such a well made game.
I was kind of expecting it to be a standard run-and-gun shooter, but if you run-and-gun you're dead within the first 30 seconds. The different weapons add a lot of strategy to the gameplay, and so far the story is turning out to be pretty cool.
Right now I'm waiting for my Component VGA Box to arrive so I can hook it up to my computer monitor for the highest definition possible, but both RR7 and Resistance look surprisingly crisp and nice even on an SD television.
The playstation store is also pretty cool. There isn't much up there right now, but it's easy to navigate and download some trailers and stuff like that.
If you've got any specific questions I'll try to answer them.

Lol sounds hectic. Good to know Resistance and Ridge Racer both sound like good launch titles.

I live in Europe and I'm receiving a Japanese PS3 in a few days, does anyone know if I need a 220=>110V converter?

Well, from the looks of it, it seems that the PS3 has a universal PSU, meaning that it is capable of working with pretty much all territories from what I understand, so I don't think it is necessary. Am I right guys?

Kick ass!! I thought I was the only one who was going to be playing on an SDTV. Hopefully, my 23" RCA will continue to work until I get an HDTV sometime next summer or fall.

Resistance, ya for sure... but Ridge Racer? That game should be ok, but no great lol. It's too much of more of the same. I am so glad Resistance came out really solid. I love Insomniac so much (even if I barely played the Ratchet series, I played Spyro to the death on the PS1 lol). I have so much respect for them.

Apparently the PS3 works on 220V/50Hz without any converter, it says 100V 50/60Hz on the back.
Found this on neogaf.
