Yes, yes. We've seen it all before, but now that the US launch is imminent, I thought that I'd post this.

Do you think the shortages will be bad?

I think they should leave out the 'PSP momentum' thing, I have no idea how they came to the conclusion that the PSP sales would have any correlation to the sales of the PS3. That should be a PS1 momentum similar to PS2 momentum as a positive (As evidenced by people lining up more than a week to get the first ones).

It's still the best console to pick up this Holiday season. Zelda, Gears, Resistance, yeah all great games...PS2 has about 5 of em for the Holiday's alone. I'm playing GH2 right now-who the heck needs a PS3:huh: I'm with the Euro guys...Resistance will be cheaper and have some people online, and I'll get to show off MotorStorm.

This is a good article. The reasons for both are good. I think Wii will surprise everyone with it's sales though, Wii will Own 07 untill the big games for PS3 and 360 hit. The price difference is just too much.

So the PS3 doesn't offer a unified online experience like live?

That would be correct...

^That would be incorrect...What part of unified service don't we understand people:huh:

I figured it was. I thought it's called the Playstation Network.

One single log-in for all PS3 games. Most PS3 games will integrate your main buddy list into the game, some will not. But with updates in the future, this could change.

Yup, I understand when people say "Screw PS3, PS2 has the best games". Completely. I may be playing Resistance come Friday, but come December, I'll be right back to playing PS2 again. On a PS2 as well, PS2 plays PS2 games better than PS3.

The problem is the software "tap" for PS2 gets turned off in March by all accounts. I have a lot of great PS2 games to play, but after March, nothing new... When I go to the games shop I never look in the PS2 section anymore.

But in March... PS3 tap gets turned on...

Sony have insisted that they are still fully supporting PS2.

It's not like the Xbox, where they are at an extreme loss and must cut those losses. PS2 software is still the most profitable arm of the Sony empire... it makes no sense to not take advantage of the market dominance and sheer profitability.*

*I can make up wordsNo, you can't (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=profitability) :-p

Sony won't abandon PS2 anytime soon, and it certainly won't be in the same way M$ abandoned (or should I say "starved to death" or "killed") Xbox to favour 360.

I don't see anything PS2 that flips my boat past March, don't know about anyone else.

I'm sure there will be Eyetoy packs 'n' Buzz 2 'n' stuff like that. But nothing I'd buy.

Sony will have success the same as the PS1 and PS2 had.. the only thing that they have to do is perform the right moves so they cant get caught by neither MS nor Big N.. Today is my birthday.. weeee :P

Where do you get this from? The PS3 contains the PS2 so the playback should be identical.

By this time next year PS2 will be dead like xbox, Xbox still get games but they aren't huge must have games, and that will be the case for PS2, they will continue to get games but all the huge titles will be shifted to PS3, the last great game for PS2 is GOW2 IMO, I don't see any thing else that peaks my interest.

MS officially abandoned the xbox when the 360 came out. But it was unofficially abandoned after Halo 2 was released.

ps2 WILL still get big game releases as there are too many ps2`s out there to ignore the sale`s and smaller devs who cannot afford to develop big budget games will find it easier to knock out quality titles for the ps2 also devs with ambition`s to develop ps3 titles will program ps2 games to help finance larger ps3 titles this is something that microsoft devs could not do as there was not enough xbox`s out there to warrant the risk.

:thumbl: look at the the comparison between Dreamcast and the 360 in the attached picture. Both controllers look the same (kinda) and even the logo is pretty similar...it has the whole spiral thing going on lol.
