View Full Version : Wii: Carlos' take

HEH. Teh moment you've been waiting for:
MY TAKE! :P
Anyway, I played the Wii.
Let me get this off my chest:
ITS
SO FUCKING
SMALL!!!!
Seriously! The Wiimote is so damn small.
It feels so right in your hand(s).
But I didn't like ExciteTruck, I'll say what someone else said about it: It feels like burnout on the moon. The sensitivity of the movements - not good. It feels awkward to play it.
I did, however, like moving the cursor on the screen, feels intutive, a little magical.
Yes, the blue light in the disc tray that you saw in promotional Wii's is off when you're playing the game. A green LED lights up, instead in the Power button on the console.

The wiimote is comparable to a unit of string cheese.
I wish they didn't have Exicte as the demo. Red Steel, dammit!

I could make a joke regarding what other small things you like feeling in your hands, but I shall refrain.

This really isnt a big deal to me, though Im sure someone somewhere will figure out how to mod their wii to where that blue light is there.

Well Kevin shouldn't be too worried about the Wiimote...it's not like this is the first time he's had something small in his hands. lmfao

So, I'll laugh with Mr. Whitten for that.

I did not get that vibe at all. The sensitivity felt just fine when I played it. Was easy to control and felt just right. I mean it could have been tighter controlling, but when your going that fast on a dirt road dont expect to be able to do 90 degree turns like nothing.

I tried moving the wiimote in the way its supposed to. I treated it like a wheel at first, then I switched to "tilt" because I couldn't figure out how to turn the truck to the other side, when "drifting" to one side of the road. Its sensitive, but not to the point where you can turn the truck back to the other side of the road at last minute. That is, if you mess up. I think you need to time your turns right.
I dunno. I just don't like the game. Never liked the idea to begin with, anyway.

Burnout is awesome, but ExciteTruck isn't.

I liked Excite Truck alot when I played it...
I felt it was very responsive and the tilting forward or backwards to change the pitch of your car is responsive and intuitive as well.
This game isn't the most fantastic racer EVAR or anything....but its certainly fun and I definitely plan on buying it at launch.

hey, hey, nobody hates small controllers!
I don't hate the WiiMote for being small, I'm just a bit surprised at how small it is, hence my exaggeration.

Well I found excite truck fun, but not something that would have a lasting appeal to it. Though no games now really have much of a replay value to them.

You didn't say that after the giant red mark I left after I Wii-slapped you in the face.
It seems to me like Excite Truck is an enjoyable game, but more of a rental because of lack of depth.

^No kidding Daniel.... 5???
That's alot to sell on e-bay....and you may or may not make much on the Wii's (versus the PS3).
D3adcell
11-15-2006, 08:36 PM
Plus I think ebay has a policy were you can only sell 1 wii and 1 ps3 at once or something. Maybe only 1 in a certain ammount of time.

I didn't care for excite either. However,r the Demo is the E3 build, extremely out of date. IGN just gave the final an 8!
