PS3
The System: Much Like Anna Nichole Smith when she was a fatty. PS3 is big and heavy.... very pretty but big nonetheless. I remember all the complaints about the weight of Xbox, I never noticed Xbox being noticeably heavy. PS3 is "Noticeably" heavy.
Like I said in my impressions post. The Startup is really nothing to brag about. Simple and....well.... boring...zzzzz...zzzzzzzzz.... sorry I'm awake now. The 360 offers an amazing visual feast upon startup with what I like to call the "X-Sphere" rotating around displaying the logo in an impressive fashion. PS3 offers nothing of the sort.
The Gui is easy to navigate, but there are just too many features to wade through, making me feel lost. Children beware! My other gripe about the GUI is that it looks "Too Much" like the PSP's GUI. I would like something different. Again 360 offers a more attractive menu overall.
Another notable 360 mention is that when you're playing a game, you can bring up the "Blade" to navigate though some features and even shut the system off. PS3 just gives you a black screen offering you to only reset, turn off controller, or turn off system. Yawn.
The Controllers: I love Sixaxis...love it (Eat that 360) but you know what? No rumble. This is an inconvenience. Especially for games like Metal Gear.
My other complaint is the price: $60 (CDN) and to top it off? No USB cord to plug it into the system.... that’s separate. Mind you the price for those are cheap...it's the effing principle.:mad2:
The 360 controller feels right to me. Rugged, ergo perfection and doesn't feel cheap. PS3 offers Sixaxis and it quite honestly feels a little too light. I'm afraid to drop this thing.
The Games:
I can't speak enough good about Call of Duty 3. Part of me wishes I purchased that over R:FoM. 360 owners will really enjoy this game. My only gripe with this game is, unlike R:FoM, you can't fully customize your control scheme here. All you get are 4 different configs.
You cannot skip through the Cut scenes EVER. There are cut scenes for each level. But the real problem is when reach any checkpoint, save and turn you system off. When you play the game again you get to watch the cut scene for that level all over again.:mad2:
R:FoM is a really good game but what's with the short levels. I mean, here I am trudging down the streets in a kick ass Panzer.... then bam...the screen goes white and a cinematic pops into view.... grrrrrrrrr.
Much like COD3, when you turn you system back on to continue playing from any checkpoint. The Cut scene for that level likes to show itself...but at least you can skip though it this time.
