-Super Mario RPG (you MUST play this game)

-Tinstar (I don't know if any of you have played this but it's an interesting shooting game that I loved as a kid. I wouldn't call it one of the best, but then I never had a whole bunch of SNES games)

-Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (awesome game)

I'll try to think of more later..

There have already been good suggestions, and great games already appearing on zeldaman's list, but here are greats that come to my mind (At least some are already mentioned and some already on the list, but I'm just listing what comes to my mind.)

Super Mario World
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Super Mario All-Stars
Super Mario Kart
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
F-Zero
Star Fox
Populous
Sim City
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
The Seventh Saga

Those are just ones that happened to come to mind. Surely there are plenty more deserving of inclusion on the list.

The GCN version is basically a rehash of the N64 version but with more characters, two people per cart, and different courses. I remember a looooooooooooooooooooong time ago my friend came over to spend the night and we were up until like 3 o'clock playing battle mode in SMK. Good times.

Super Mario Kart is not as good as Mario Kart 64 or Double Dash. In fact I think most SNES games arent as good as their future releases. There are some exceptions though.

I have Mario RPG. I must have beaten that game 10 times. I love it. DKC is pretty good, but now that i go back and play it, i dont really enjoy it as much as I use to. Mario-All-Stars is great. Zelda LttP is probably the best in my opinion. Super Mario World was amazing too. Lots of good games.

What about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games. I loved those games for the multiplayer.

you are so wrong. SNES mario Kart owned N64 mario kart... in fact I couldnt stand N64 mario kart, because it was so inferior (just like Mario 64 owned SMS)..

first of all, the racers sucked. what were the most used racers in SNES mario kart? Toad, usually, and if you couldnt get toad (other person had him) you settled on koopa troopa. least used? Donkey kong and Bowser... they just accelerated way to slow.. get hit by one shell and yer outta the race... they were only good for time trials...

so in N64, they took out one of the most popular race types (you can be toad, but if someone has picked him you must go w/ a different type).. and instead added a driver to the worst class (wario).. so there are three fatties that no one wants instead of two... it really shows in 4 player, if 3 people before you has picked toad, mario, and luigi, then you are stuck w/ either princess and yoshi (who haev the other problem - they accelerate quick but cant get a good top speed at all)... because its suicide to pick one of the fatties in multiplayer...

Another problem I had. One of my favorite tricks in SNES mario kart was to "shrink" on of the players (2 player race) right from the start... there was a code you entered, tho I dont remember what. he stayed shrunk the whole race. Anyway, we played tag, and it was hella fun. If you were small and it, you had to get yourself run over... if you were big and it, you had to run over the other person... if you were it you couldnt cross the final lap finish line... I think I had more fun playing that game than the real racing... Anyway, that wasnt an option in 64 for version :( (I assume not available in GCN version either)

^i liked the fatties. Like DK. So do some others. SNES on the other hand, i used toad a lot. It was good, but after playing the other ones, the tracks seem so dull on it.

the ghost tracks on SNES are the best mario kart tracks in any mario kart game ever...

What re you talking about? DK and Wario were awesome. And your Toad bit is statictically wrong. Nintendo studies showed that Yoshi and Wario were the two most used karters.

I dont buy that. prove it. I've never seen anyone use Wario, 'cept maybe as a joke. Anyway, i was talking about SNES version, not N64.

Was Mystic Quest a good game?

Most people would probably tell you that it sucked. While I wouldn't say it was anything near the calibur of other Final Fantasy titles, or other RPG's in general, I would never suggest that it sucked. The game was shorter than the majority of RPG's at the time, it didn't have the large parties of characters that one played in other FF titles that often have four or five members at one time, and the story was a lot thinner and more "RPG's for Dummies", but not all RPG's have massive parties and you don't have to be overly lengthy with a deep storyline to still be a decent RPG.

The other thing they might complain about is that the game is too easy, which I think primarily comes from the fact that you can continue when you die in battle, restarting the same battle just as you started it before you died rather than getting back there from where you last saves as would be the case in other RPG's. However, if one were to play through without using those continues like that, a lot of folks might have instead found the game too frustrating, since I've seen many decent gamers die on multiple occasions; more often than in more traditional FF titles.

I think the game had a few things going for it. It went away from the normal Final Fantasy battle view, wherein you have enemies on the left and the party on the right, instead having the characters in the foreground facing enemies in the background. There were a lot of animated battle backgrounds and some scenery would change depending on certain major changes that take place to the overworld during the course of the game, like one area of the map thawing out. Outside of battle, when exploring towns and dungeons, the player did more than just walk around, search chests, and talk to people, as you also had to do more physical activities like climbing walls, leaping across water and ledges, and chopping down trees in your way.

Enemies show battle damage as they take damage, usually having a healthier sprite and a wounded sprite, but major enemies tend to have more damage phases, and the final boss takes on several forms. The music is more up-beat and harder in a lot of locations and in battles, kinda having more of a rock sort of sound to it or something, and I liked it. Instead of running into random battles, you see the enemies on the map, but they don't walk around, instead just standing there.
