Not really a PS-3 topic, per say. But since some of us are using or will be using our PS-3 as a Blu-Ray player for movies as well, I thought I would put this here.

For the rest of the year it seems a couple more Hd-Dvd movies are being released than Blu-Ray each month. Then Jan and Feb the Blu-Ray flood gates begin to open. Does anybody think that with more Blu-Ray players out there between now and the end of the year and beyond (using that trojan horse PS-3) that the war may be over before it gets started?

Could it also be that if you are into all that high tec has to offer you would buy a PS-3 just for the Blu-Ray even if you don't play games. As a cheaper buy it now (if you can find one) Blu-Ray player.

It is getting the support and if everywhere the consumer turns and there is Blu-Ray after Blu-Ray then the consumer may begin to say "hay I need one of those" and there you have it Blu-Ray dominance.

I know that isn't exactly how it works but I'm just thinking out loud. It could help sell the PS-3.

Once PS3 production starts ramping up naturally I see Blu-ray leading just because of PS3 users and people that see it as a low price blu-ray player. PS3's a nice all-in-one if i've ever seen it lol.

If you look at the amazon sale charts the number 1 selling Blu Ray is selling as well as the number 2 HD DVD... Things are turning...

As long as Sony plays it smart and markets the PS3 as the best next gen media solution out there, I have no doubt that BD with win over HD DVD in the format war.

All I have to say is Disney went exclusive to BluRay DVD. They are a powerhouse of media on so many levels it is not even funny. Not to mention to new Superman is on BluRay and not HD-DVD(that I am aware of). And the Spiderman movies, which Sony owns the rights to. The list goes on. My best bets are on BluRay DVD over the long term, just like PS3. Sure it will be a big battle, but this time I think Sony may finally win a format war.

Catch! Good init. Stole it off a site of dubious virtue.I still wonder how come they (or Kojima himself) thought of using that MGS3's Big Boss' head + MGS2's Solid Snake suit model for Wii's Smash Brothers
