I have to admt, this happened a bit faster than I expected. However nobody has successfully authored another BD disc this way, and it would be too much trouble to share online without re-encoding and losing quality in the process.

Won't be long until BD-shrink comes out.

Copy protection is such a stupid idea, we'll patch it, you'll patch our patch, we'll patch your patch et cetera.

Waste of time and resources IMHO. I'll be burning BD's soon enough anyway.

I think file size is a better 'copy-protection' method than anything they'll come up with.
Downloading 50GB is not my idea of a good time.
But hey, I don't download full DVDs as it is.
I do hope that some people will still share standard definition movies online though.

That article states that ripping is no pac because getting those files to play are where the protection lies.

yes that is the problem, this is only the first step but we will have cracked it by mid march-april of next year, some guy has stated he will have done it by then and will release his findings. Same guy who helped crack the commercial DVD protection.

Wild. It's comforting knowing that by the time you purchase the system, everything you want to do with it, you will be able to do. Rip BD's, rip games and hopefully run some similar program to XBMC

Actually, it wasn't cracked at all. The AACS copy protection is still in place and prevents any burning of new discs or converting the video to another format. Read the posts in the thread I posted.
