View Full Version : My Painful Dilemna
Here it is and I hope I cover all bases.
I want an Xbox 360.
But! And this is a VERY big but, actually a crucial but. MGS4 is, so far at least, exclusive to PS3. And that is the only game I see myself playing right now that is coming out for PS3. Assassin's Creed is both systems, GTA IV is both, etc...
God of War 2 is PS2 (which I have) so I don't have to worry about that. But everything hangs on MGS4 because I have to play it.
Back to business though. I want to play Gears of War, RB6: Vegas, +rumble, Halo 3 and the more I see and read about it, the more I want it and realize that it is a good gaming console. I think Xbox Live is doing very well and is a strong point for M$.
And if I do decide to purchase, do I do it now or do I wait a few months so that they may release an update (like PS2 did) where noisy drives are no longer a factor?
What makes it hurt even more is that I have recently gotten an award for $500, and that just screams Xbox 360.
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only dope.

Well there are alot of good deals going on for the 360 right now. Surely though there is more then just MGS4 you want to play on PS3? If not though you can always get a PS3 at a later date or just rent a system and MGS4 when it comes out, or even play it at a friends house.
It depends on what games you want to play more really. Not just the games you want to play now either, but games coming out in the future.
Get a list of games coming out on both consoles and make a list in word of games you want on each system. If one has more then the other, I would suggest going with that.

Well it seems in the long run the 360 would be better for you. Why not just rent a PS3 when MGS comes out?

There are alot of great holiday bundles at many stores for the 360 atm. If I were you I would shop around and definitily consider picking yourself up a 360 asap.
I believe I will be picking up a 360 in the short and near future. And I will come up with a way to play MGS4 if it stays exclusive. But if it gets ported, that is even better but somehow I doubt it will get the same amount of love as the PS3 version.
The games that come with the 360 right now (bundled in), I have little to zero interest in.
Soon it shall be mine.

If you can find a bundle with condemned, you should get that.

^I don't think they have bundles with Condemned. You can probably buy a used copy of that game for extremely cheap. Condemned is one of the best games I've ever played.

Well according to Joystiq the source that said that MGS4 is coming to 360 is very reliable and can be taken as a confirmation. Personally I don't care for MGS, but hey everyone else does!

From what I know Joystiq is a crap site. It's a blog that is anti-sony from what I hear. Is there a chance it could come to the 360? Yea sure I guess so. But I still don't think it will happen.

Get a 360 and stop thinking about it
Just go for it
If you second guess or wishy wish this much, you'll regret it!
And dont fret about price drops (if you are haha i am)
What you spend in money now you save in Time later (waiting time for a price drop) and countless hours wishing you had a 360
Im close to making the jump as well, but I dont want one bad so i dont mind waiting
But how you're acting with the 360 now is how I was with the Wii over a month ago when i realized i wanted that instead of a PS3 (how ironic that the system i dissed last year would be my first next gen system)
The thing is me and my buddy are swapping systems (my Wii for his 360) and I don't want to buy a 360 before that. I want to test it out and just make sure that it's what I want. But it's the $500 that is burning my pocket.

I was kinda at the same level you were 311 and I just said F it and bought it last weekend. I don't regret it to say the least. I'm a Wii60 owner and proud of it because there are plenty of great games out and coming out for the 360. Trust me you won't regret picking this system up well at least I haven't.

If your friend is going to do a fair swap Wii for 360 (premium I assume), why not swap then buy another Wii as it would be cheaper?

^true
anyway. im as well a wii60 owner and i have to say im not dissapointed with the 360 at all in fact i play it more than my wii right now. theres too many games coming out and are out right now to pass it up. bioshock mass effect halo 3 and halo wars. the future looks great for the 360. and MGS being ported over to the 360 is very possible. theres too many reports of it for it not to be true. and it does make sense for them to do it.

I'm going to go ahead and say this. I promise you'll enjoy it. I know I'm going to get bashed forsaying this, called a fanboy, and most likely stoned-- the 360 mihg tbe the best console I've ever had the priviledge of turning on. NOt games wise, because God himself knows the SNES wins that battle, but the menu system, Xbox Live, it's all very exciting.
In my pants.
Done and done. Bought it yesterday on Boxing Day; the Premium was $100 off, so I don't think I could've refused.
I just rented NHL 07 and it is amazing and GRAW is pretty sweet lookin' as well. I can't wait to hook it up to XBL.
