View Full Version : Katamari coming to the Xbox Live Arcade service.

The report comes from EGM magazine. If it is to be believed (and we have no reason to believe they're making this up since it sounds logical), there will be three new Katamari games in 2007.

The Wii, PS3 and the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade service will each receive a new Katamari game. Now we are waiting on official confirmation from Namco.

Probably a good game but still nothing that I am going to pick up. Not my type.

I dont see why it would be on the xbox live arcade though. Not if they are actually going to have discs distributed for PS3 and Wii.

I still need to get We Love Katamari. I want to play that game now.

^Could PS3 and Wii also have it as a downloadable game? That should be possible.

Not so much for Wii though. It's downloadable games are restricted to straight ports of NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and Turbografx-16 with no added functionality. No new indie/original content or arcade games.

Um, that is correct Dementia. WiiConnect24 will allow for indie developers to make games like on Xbox Live Arcade and also game demos and even full games provided they are small enough. The system simply isn't fully in place yet and deverlopers don't have the online kits yet. Supposedly January is when they get kits and the system goes live (pun intended).


I'm surprised the handhelds aren't part of this action too.

I'm happy to see that they're making new Katamari games, even without the original creator. There's nothing like Katamari, it's totally unique, so they shouldn't stop making them!

Ok, so I guese if its on the Wii it has to be on a disc. Alright, atleast thats clear.

Why do you say that? The title isn't scheduled for release until who knows when 2007. The online stuff will be up and running in January.

Well it was in the EGM Rumor Mill so it could just be bullshit too, like most of the stuff in the Rumor Mill.

actually the rumor mill is right occasionally....

anyway ive never played a katamari game as i dont have a ps2 or psp so i might look into it.
