Checked www.VGcharts.org (i know, i know) and they estimate the total sales at 1.01 million units. Couple that with the recent influx of PS3's popping up (CC, BB, Fry's, and SonyStyle) and Sony could very well be over a million right now. What do you guys think?

At least they seem to have a system as to how they get their number... WTF does Nextgenwars use?

Wait for Sony's official shipment numbers. Much safer than vgcharts or nextgenwars... (especially nextgenwars, I cant believe some people go there... -_-)

Every company has a tendency to embelish their "official" numbers. If anything Im willing to bet Sony comes reasonably close if they miss the mark at all.

(we are talking NA here right?)

I wonder if Sony counts in the units "reserved for Europe/Pal" in some way??

There needs to be a big marketing push, for them to reach 2M in the next couple of weeks. !.5M is quite feasable and quite impressive nonetheless.

Then again if they are stand at 1.2/3 right now, then who knows.

number of consoles is the least interesting thing to me but ironically its probably the most important thing to devs... unfortunately.

VGcharts does have a system on how they get their numbers so it might possibly be around 1 million.

I think there's about zero chance they are stocking PAL units already. Besides, the only hardware differences will probably be power-cord and firmware. Even PS2 is PAL/NTSC agnostic.

It's Possible.But not likely

the 1 mil mark seems right to me.

I don't think sony would be stock piling already for PAL.

NPD and Media Create are your best sources for sales data, at least for US and Japan, so for the time being ps3 has sold a little over 500.000 (November US, launch till now in Japan).
VGvharts it's not a good source, sony's shipped numbers is neither, and as for nexgenwars, this site is just a joke.
