I was 77th the night it came out, but im bumped to like 14Xth with the Lotus. Would be easier with a steering wheel setup.

12-25-2006, 07:45 PM
wow so i guess holding onto 64th is realy good then eh?

if others are getting like 10,000

if there is like 10k and im 64th that puts me in the top 1%

*brushes fingernails on shirt*

wow and i wasent even tryin! now im taking out my DFP

Jax, I think it goes without saying that you are one of the best GT players on our forums. I've known this from seeing your mad GT set-up. anybody with that thing has to be a driving nut. lol

and only having 63 people ahead of you in your GTHD record shows how good you are. and I know you can do better still. ;)

PS. this would be even more impressive if the ratings are universal measured worldwide as apposed of per-region. I don't see why it shouldn't be the first.

give me one hour of practice with the 599 on the new track and I'll be pulling lap times under 1 min

edit:maybe the tuned celica rally car will be the wepon of choice

If you do the tracks backwards you can get really high rankings. I'm 7th with the unedited Lotus Elise

I'm 3000'ish using the RSX, on forward track. The only way to get high rankings is learn how to drift. Well. Really well.

12-26-2006, 01:11 AM
so are the rankings world-wide or region specific?

Okay, I dropped down to 520! I would love to be top 100

I just ran a 1:12 in the 599 and placed 94th. that was with a lot of mistakes too. I can get it down quite a bit if I get my wheel out, I just don't have anything to mount it to. GT5 will require a really sweet rig to play though n.n

Did anyone manage to complete any of the licences in GT4 all on gold?

i could barely get any

Uh yeah I was like 5000-something, so yeah you're a beast. I am way out of practice, but that doesn't take away from you (Jax) being really sick.

I managed to rank 82nd with the G35 Coupe on the standard time trial. I actually own that car so I take it pretty seriously... ;)

I may get my full DFP setup going and see if I can get in the top five so you clowns can watch my replay. :)

Thats how it works then. I thought you had to save your replay for your record lap but it just does it for you eh? Sweet!! Can anyone confirm that Im still in 6th, super busy right now.

GT has been my "the patch" for racing. it helps stop the cravings. I have spent way to much over the years on racing...

^^ Jax, I'm almost there man...
I'm rank 11 with the tuned G35 coupe on time trial reverse...
I plan to make the top 10 tomorrow; it sucks the steering wheel does not support force feedback makes car controls a pain... Peace

You guys with your wheels have an advantage over us. It would be cool to see what you guys can do with wheel/without.

^I was rank 20 using the controller... :)
If you watch the replays closely you can tell who is using the wheel and the controller. I think most of the time trial top ten are using the wheel, but a few could be using the controller. Also, I believe most of the top ranked drifters are using the wheel. It's a lot easier to drift with the wheel IMO. Peace

PS: I can't wait for GT5 with online play; this game will take up a lot of my gaming time...
I just hope they support FF & rumble with the DFP, because the current contol scheme is not that great with the wheels...

How?

Matt
12-30-2006, 09:45 AM
I haven't seen the replays, but I imagine the turning would be a lot smoother with the steering wheel.

As for using a controller, the best word I can come up with is 'jerky'. I think you get what I mean?

Garfunkel
12-30-2006, 10:23 AM
The steering wheel allows for far softer movements and greater sensitivity.

I can rarely get any golds in any test, only really on the b and a levels.

Have you ever got full gold for all licenses?, some of them seem imposable.

Z
12-30-2006, 02:32 PM
what I want to know is are the demo runs for the licenses and tracks actually done by a real player and recorded or is it the computer who played it? I ask because it seems too perfect to be human controlled. or are there gamers out there that are just that good?

Rapture
12-30-2006, 04:37 PM
it's definitely human controlled in my opinion. from my observation it drives a lot more like a human than a computer. it's lines aren't perfect, especially in the longer tests and it can handle drift.

of course there are people that good, the demo times are all beatable.

Yes_It's_Me; on gt2(iirc) and gt3; yes. on gt4; only b and a are all golded so far, im yet to try the others. bronzes get more difficult as you go through the licenses, but golds do not. the tasks may get more complex, but a (near) perfect run is still a (near) perfect run; there is nothing they can do to make golds harder. making the test longer only makes it less random or flukey.

jaxmkii

The steering wheel allows for far softer movements and greater sensitivity.
thats why wheels have the advanvage. if you burring rubber from over steering/braking/accelerating. the heat your creating is a loss of energy that could be used to make the car go faster. good race drivers look calm and relaxed smooth in there movements. all the tires ware evenly without cupping healing to excessive toe ware and will have a suspention setup as neutal as possible.

and yes GTs physics do take that into acount that is why GT is #1

this is why drifting is slow and is only a fad that will die out with monster trucks in time

Garfunkel
12-31-2006, 01:05 AM
I don't know if the driver is human or computer, it might be a computer programmed to do a 97% perfect lap at whatever% efficiency or something but I have seen during the demos fairly human movements that would lead me to believe human drivers. Things that are hard for a computer to be programmed to do, like turning into a hairpin, decelerating and experiencing overseer, getting scared and over correct then jitter back to the race line. Stuff that i don't see PD doing with a bot.

pollux

i'm like #1000 in most rankings, I'd need a wheel as well, but I want PD to support force feedback first.

Or how Evolution made their bots to go crazy and try to run you off the cliff because you nudge their vehicles a few times. :P

no one plays the reverse so its easy to get good rankins... not to say you suck

my best to date is with the rally car in normal track is 8th.

humm maybe i should try a reverse tack:3eye:

I don't get the drifting thing at all. I'm terrible at it.

The reverse tracks are not being played as much as the standard, but the top 10 times are fairly solid...
