I was passing through here because it was linked on Threespeech.com, and saw that they said the PS3 has separate usernames for its online and for its online games, yet Resistance (the only full game I've played online) doesn't do that -- are they wrong or have I just not played the right PS3 games to get this separate username thing through Gamespy or Xfire?

If they're wrong, would somebody please kindly inform them of their inaccuracies so it doesn't happen again? We all know the last thing Sony needs is more bad information floating around with the PS3...

Well, I'm called the same in all my ps3 network games, which confuses me because everybody complaints about this "issue"..........

maybe they are referring to the option of making a different name for a specific online game while keeping your original Network ID. it is like an alias to your alias and is different from making another user profile.
that is a good move, but I don't know if it is default in all games or if games have to support that feature.

the reason why anyone would want to pic another name is that some games wouldn't feel okay with some other names (like your name in Madden doesn't necessarily sounds good for an MMO), and things like that. and by having another name, you can keep your rankings and scores- unlike using a different profile where you have to start from scratch.
in any case, the more options the better.
