I paired my PS3 with my existing Motorola H700 and I have found that when paired, my controller's lag. Does anyone else have this problem? What brand, model headsets is everyone using?

I really want to get this solved so that I can play resistance with a headset.

Thanks for the help.

I am using a Motorola H300 (Yeah I'm cheap). It seems to work fine but I think there is still some general fine tuning that needs to be done with the bluetooth headset functionality on PS3. During extended pay and multiple rounds I sometimes seem to lose to ability to hear and be heard by others (Even though I can still see the mic symbols form them) every once and a while.

How To Use ANY Bluetooth Headset With Your Playstation 3 PS3

So you've got your Playstation 3, a copy of Resistance: Fall Of Man and you're all setup to go multiplayer online. The only thing missing is a wireless headset to chat with your team right? The Playstation 3 uses Bluetooth for its wireless controllers which got me to thinking...what about a Bluetooth headset? Turns out you can pair ANY Bluetooth Headset with your PS3 for voice chat, here's how.

Turn on your Playstation 3, and from the main menu go to Settings - Accessory Settings - Register Bluetooth Device

You will be presented with two options:

Register BD Remote Control
Register Headset/Microphone/Headphones

Select Register Headset... and put your Bluetooth headset into pairing mode. On your PS3 select Start Scanning

Select your device and enter your pairing code. In most cases for audio devices the default pairing code is "0000"

Now on your PS3, go to Audio Device Settings and change your "Input Device" and "Output Device" to your Bluetooth headset name. Try speaking and watch your "Mic Level" move!

While playing Resistance: Fall Of Man you can voice chat with other players by pressing and holding down L3. I use the Plantronics Pulsar 590 Bluetooth Stereo Headset with my phone, for Bluetooth audio on my laptop, and now for voice chat on my PS3. The Plantronics 590 allows for up to eight device pairings and it works flawlessly with the PS3 - I was even able seamlessly answer an incoming cell phone call and then switch back to PS3 voice chat. :)While playing Resistance I only came across one other person using a Bluetooth headset for voice chat, and he so I wanted to get the word out.http://www.gadgetmadness.com/archives/20061209-how_to_use_any_bluetooth_headset_with_your_playsta tion_3_ps3.php

The headset he's using sounds pretty cool.

I had the same model with the same issues, I switched to the usb headset but that damn thing is just too bulky.

The planetronics headset sounds promising good find.

I really wonder what an official BT headset would look like? I bet it wild be the same kind of see through plastic on the sixaxis with a chrome line accenting the middle.

I'm using the Motorola H350 that I got for Christmas.

Guys, thanks for the posts and information.

FanatsyGhost – Nice find, thanks, I like the idea but cannot justify paying $250 for a headset, + rep anyway for the find.

woundingchaney – have you had the opportunity to try a different b.t. headset as of yet?

i have a Motorola H670, works flawlessly, althought once it unsynced or something, i just turned it off an on and i was fine again. random occurance though. Sony said they won't release peripherals of their own such as headsets because other companies can make them at prices SCE can't compete with, so there's no point in them doing it.

Whole thing bothers me. I'd like a stereo bluetooth headset so I can get a Sony Ericsson k800 and listen to music wire free. So when I'm walking down the street it doesn't get caught on something and my iPod flys out my pocket or the earphones get yanked out my ear. Happens a lot. :)

But... what if that headset doesn't work with PS3. And I prefer iPod anyway as it has all my podcasts and 60GB of music and stuff.

Oh cruel fates, why do you deny me techno bliss?

Currently, the PS2 head set is my only means to communication online. I'll be switching to BlueTooth very, very soon.

Plantronics Explorer 320

Got one today (due to your pic asuming you put it there 'cause it worked) and so far it seems to be working fine. A little staticy though. Anyone else have that problem.

Guys, thanks again for your input on the situation. I picked up a Plantronics Explorer 350 from Newegg.com for about 43 bucks shipped.

It works flawlessly and I am very pleased to be able to have Voice Chat during my resistance battles.

I recommend everyone playing resistance pick one up.

yeah I got mine for free! (thx batou), but haven't had too much time to use it yet.
Leedogg and I tried to chat, but the headset went dead right when we got started.
(I hadn't charged it in a while)

I just bought the highly rated (for PS3) from Jabra, the BT125. Got it from BB for $39.99 with free shipping. :) Here's the link to the reviews for it:

Nice... You listen to music streamed off your mobile in high quality stereo, a call comes in, it announces it with a voice (if you've set it up), click to take the call. Click and say the person you want to call to make a call, double click to redial, remote control for your player... Nice.... :) Inner ear headphones, lasts about 10 hours playback or something

Doesn't work with the PS3 at all. Register headset, enter 0000, the headset reports all happy, the PS3 spits back an error.

Bits of Sony don't talk to other bits of Sony. It's quite odd.

I'll just buy a cheap bluetooth thing you stick in your ear for the PS3. Once I have a game that has voice control and I can play with non japanese speakers. :)

Or, I'll send Sony an email, how come they don't write sodding drivers for their own sodding products. :)

Ach, what do you guys recommend? the one I got at bestbuy, the Motorola H300 for 40 bucks was working like crap. As in, not at all.

This is much of the reason why they are in decline, their business is so mangled and there is no communication, so far, stinger has not done too much fixing this issue, buti it is improving.

check this thread here. the motorolas are garbage. lots of probs reports on the RFOM site, especially with the 500 model. the good one, the Jabra/BT250v is $50 @ amazon tho so i'm debating it... almost the price of a game...

I had a lot of trouble with the motorola I got, it was a lower end (cheaper) one but still, it just...was sucking. So at some point when I have more money to burn I'm getting a new different better one.

^ Try the Jabra BT125. It's the one I got and it was only $39.99 at BB (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8048686&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat98400050018&id=1158316174515). Best of all, it doesn't need to be repaired with the PS3 every time you use it.

Let me see if I can help you boys out: Here's what I bought after much research (I haven't received it yet). It's the cheapest Blutooth 2.0 (longer range [about 33ft.], faster connection, more stable connection and sound quality, etc.). Also, it has 10 hours of talk time. Motorola H350. Your choice of color (I got the black one, of course...better hurry as there are a much fewer number available than the blue model). The Blue one is a dollar less than the black one but I felt it was worth paying a dollar more for the better look.>>

I use the jabra bt125. I got it cheap with a new plan from verizon. It works extremely well. It has good volume, very easy to hear. Its not exactly the most comfortable headset however once you have it on it is so light that you could forget it is there. There is a slight, and i mean slight, bit of static when its connected but you really have to listen for it. However, it has great range. I could use it in the other room through two walls and still hear people talking in resistance perfectly. Best of all it never needs to be repaired. It just connects and works every time. Overall 4 out of 5 stars for use for PS3 from me.
