I cannot take them anymore. Although I love the stories and deep gameplay I simply do not have the attention span to grind through 70+ hours of gameplay, while endlessly leveling up my charecters anymore. After Final fantasy III (DS) I quit.
Have you grown out of a certain genre before? Or are there other types of games you will never tire from?

A great story is a great story...I think maybe ur just playing the wrong RPG's...but it really depends on the person. I'd say as people change, and there goals/values/priorities change with them, they may have different entertainment needs as well...
I used to be a big RPG fan when I was younger, now I can only stand to play a couple (that couple being the first two Suikoden games).
I used to have every FF game up to FFX. And just like that, I didn't want to play them anymore. There was one positive that came out of it though, I traded them all in and got a 360 with a couple of games :)

I still love RPGs. I always have ever since the original Final Fantasy and original Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest). I don't have nearly as much time to play games as I used to in my youth, so I never did get to finish Final Fantasy XII before the Wii launched (though I really want to get back to it) and I'm still playing through Twilight Princess (not an RPG but what I'm playing) after more than a full month because I only get to play for an hour or two per day on average.

I used to do fighting games back in the SNES and early N64 days. I did Street Fighter II (all fifty versions), the early Mortal Kombat games (got tired after MK3), Killer Instinct and KI:Gold, and that sort of thing. I got burned out on them though, and haven't cared much for them with the exception of Super Smash Bros. but that's largely because the SSB games are a collection of many of my favorite characters, tunes, icons, and locales from many of my favorite franchises.
I also used to to first-person shooters a long time ago, like the classic Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D (spent hundreds and hundreds of hours making user levels), but again got tired of them. I never got into them again until Doom 3 was on the way. Despite some people's complaints about Doom 3, and questions about why Doom 3 rather than ________, I guess Doom 3 caught my interest because I played the classic Doom games. After Doom 3, I started doing some more shooters again, and went back to do Halo and Halo 2, neither of which interested me when they first came out but did so after I started getting back into the genre again. I anticipate Halo 3, of course.

Final Fantasy III is great...I couldn't ever stop playing RPG games because they are so much fun. Honestly.

I usually get bored of every game I play unless its totally amazing. Im ashamed to say I was worried that i would get bored of Twilight Princess. But after 50 hours I beat it. There have been other games which I loved everything about but still just got bored and stopped playing.
It sucks, but maybe you should be looking to play the smaller games as opposed to the 70+ hour ones.

Oh yeah, happens to me all the time, you go mad for a genre of games then just stop.
I used to play lots of FPS games online, the original Team Fortress on QuakeWorld, Unreal Tournament, Battlefield 1942, you get bored and move on. In fact the whole PC FPS genre, I don't play them anymore.
Used to play tons of fighters, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur on Dreamcast, got bored too.
It's a natural thing that you do something, get all you can out of it, then move on. Called life.
With RPGs you can pick the wrong RPG and just quit. Lousy story, bad leveling up, boring art style. That happens too. No chance of that happening with Final Fantasy 12 though. I'm playing that atm. Weee!

Perhaps you should start playing western rpgs not jrpgs .
After all jrpgs aren't actually role playing games as you don't affect the story at all .
Western rpgs are completely diffrent like oblivion deep story lines that you can actually affect .
or go mmorpg

I love RPGs but my attention span dies at the 40 hour mark.
Single reason I gave up playing Final Fantasy games.

Newer RPGs like FF X through FFXII are all horribly boring (imo). But then some like Golden Sun I couldn't put down from start to finish.

Just started Dragon Quest VIII the other day. I'll probably be able to finish it but not want to play another RPG for a while.

Baldur's Gate I & II, Neverwinter Nights (the original), Fallout I & II, Planescape: Torment, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (especially the first one) are all games you should try.
Especially SW: KotOR.
