I am talking sweaty balls frustrating here and if you think about it, frustrating times should come back to you.
I was going through my library thinking of what to play and I saw Stuntman and that was the game that ticked off my memory and I compiled a list, I am almost 100% sure this is all the games that frustrated me to hell and back:
- Stuntman: Harsh timings, un-expectedly steep difficulty curve and the realism all together just drove me mad. I was crazy enough to go into this game promising myself to complete every stunt on 100% and now i am in the second stunt of the last movie. Haven't given up yet but I play it like once every few months.
- Jet-Li: Argh! This is one of those games where developers thought "Hmmm okay, he got this far so he must be good. Let's throw five zillion enemies at him. oh and make blocking uneffective" I am in a fight with five fat guys who I can't grab or block against and they rape me in literally 20 seconds. I am not sure if i will go back to this since it uses analogue to strike and when i get frustrated, i take it out on the analogue.
- Pro Evolution Soccer 5: This game cost me a headphone. I was playing with my brother and the game just drove me nuts. Henry missing open goals, crosses ending up as goal kicks and everything that could go wrong. When my brother scored his fifth goal to make it 5-0 I threw the innocent headphone against the wall and...well, RIP. The match ended 9-0 btw
- Guitar Hero 2: I am playing on Hard right now (completed easy and medium) but i get so pissed off with this.
- FreQuency: This is basically the same game as Guitar Hero 2 minus the guitar and same reason. I just get so pissed off when i 'go off beat' and miss a few notes in a row.
Shenmue: There was this fight on a rooftop that me and my cousin tried at least 20 times. When we beat him we were so happy, we accidentally pulled too much on the controllers and the Dreamcast fell and froze. Yep. Needless to say we were furious and were in a pissy mood for about half an hour and then we laughed about it later one.
Those are the games that pissed me off so much they probably had a mental effect on me one way or another.

Frequency is crappy compared to its sequel Amplitude. Amplitude looks a lot more like Guitar Hero as far as the interface for notes coming at the player. I played Amplitude first and was completely underwhelmed when I went and played Frequency. Anyway. HM. Frustrating games?
Frantix for PSP frustrated me quite a bit.
I'll have to think about this more.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure 2.
They made a sequel to that? Is that one also an MMO and do you still play with Butters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butters)?

Guitar Hero is really really aggravating. Another game I get easily annoyed with is Madden, for some reason, it just doesn't seem like the players in the game do anything that realy NFL players do. And it really gets to me.

ACTUALLY... Taiko no Tatsujin on the drums is really irritating because it's so easy to miss the sensor and hit the middle of the drum and then not get credit for hitting the drum the right way. THAT is annoying. It's so much easier on a controller where there's less room for mechanical error.

Right now, I can think of Mystical Ninja 64, where you have to swim up the waterfall. God I hate "Press A as fast as you can" minigames.

Haha, I liked that part. I also am a fan of A-button mashers in Mario Party, though.
How about the pinball-esque level in Super Mario Sunshine with red coins? That was uspetting.

I can't believe that some of you think Guitar Hero II is hard, only remotely difficult song was "Freebird" on expert mode. The only game that I can think of that gave me trouble recently was Devil May Cry 3
Phoenix

Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi.
Or whatever it was called.
Wild Arms 1 or 2, im not sure. I got to a part where I was pretty high leveled, but I had to fight 2 bosses in a row. I hadnt gotten to a high enough level and no matter what, I always got pwned.

Man, oh man. Most challenging and frustrating games? Pff, got a million. I dare anyone... ANYONE to try and play Battle Squadron on the Sega Genesis (Or the original on the Amiga) or maybe Hellfire "The thinking man's shooter" as well. For kicks, Scramble Eggs for the MSX ranks as one of the worst and most frustrating games of all time in my book, right along with E.T., Custer's Revenge and Superman 64. Of course other games include Ultimate Quix, the original Battle Toads, Megaman I - III, and dear god, how could we forget one of the most challenging and frustrating games of all time, Tetris. Got so many more, but will list them later.

Pac-Man on the 360 pissed me off because I was constantly competing with a friend for the most points. I almost threw my controller at the TV.
Need for Speed Carbon's last boss makes me so damn angry. I can't believe how cheap it is no matter how good your vehicle is.

Dario fight in Chrono Cross with no Black Armor, this was one of the most difficult boss fights I ever incountered taking almost 5 mins each one of my turns to make a perfect plan to defeat him and oppotmize healing, and reviving.
Of course with all that time put in the fight I won, but I had a calculator, paper and pen writing down all the moves for one hell of a planned out fight!!

Ethan: Mario Kart:Double Dash in Mirror Mode with it's cheating AI.
MK:DD is a cakewalk compared to SNES MK. Try mirror mode special circuit...where the rubber band AI have DK bouncing into you 2 seconds after you hit him with a green shell.
Personally, I thought DD was mediocre compared to the SNES or N64 incarnation.
There is an impossible game I played: Actraiser 2. The first game was a gem, this one is crappy and impossible.
The arcade challenges in Timesplitters were a lot of fun, epically the second one. Nicky, jinky, Bricky.
Come to think of it...There has not been a game out in years that I have played and was challenging. Zelda TP was easy...FF12-easy...Can someone tell me where I can find any modern difficult games?

Mario is Missing was frustrating as hell. I had to get my dad to help me beat it.
Keeping on the mario kart subject though, I agree the SNES was the hardest incarnation, and the only one I never completely beat. The AI was damn near impossible to beat. But then theres the bullshit that was Mario Kart 64. In the faster speed races on certian courses if a cpu got a certian amout ahead of you they became impervious to in game hazards like the vehicles in toads turnpike, I hated this.

I beat all the karts to completion thus far, but I was disappointed with DD. It was not terribly hard, and the item system is thoroughly retarded. Retarded in the way that people get blue shells and lightning bolts out of their ying-yang. In all the older version there was a moderation to the special items...Now it is rather if want to be the masochistic first person.
Why, I remember a time when red shells would hit wall if you were not close enough. Besides the items, I did not like the "flighty-fartsy" music and animations. I don't know...The older two seems more about racing...

SNES MK is a cakewalk compared to Super Circuit for GBA. Not only were the controls infuriating, but the AI banded together as cheaters to help one particular character win at the cost off all together. How are you supposed to win when 6 other carts are all helping 1 other one win. LAME.
I had forgotten about Super Circuit because I hated it so much.
fucking Dizzy is the hardest game ever, you get like 3 lives during the whole game...

Ooh, and did anyone ever play TMNT arcade game for NES? I loved this game cause it was so challenging. The bosses were generally hard as hell to beat. Shredder was the shit as far as bosses go too.

The last ten levels or so of Super Monkey Ball in expert mode are absolute Satan. They're the only obstacle I have never passed in a video game :(
I remember Blast Corps being pretty friggin' tough as well.
Also, beating GoldenEye's Water Caverns and Aztec Complex on 00 Agent.
And the stupid Octupus boss you had to race in Diddy Kong Racing.
Yeah, those four.
Oh, and also Ozma in Final Fantasy IX.
Elite Beat Agents. Getting an S-Rank on a song requires you get 90% or more 300's (the best score you can get on a note), 9% or less 100's, and 1% or less 50's. A single miss and you're out. I swear to god I was playing Jumpin Jack Flash for like 4 hours before I managed to s-rank it. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyAYZFOlVqg)

Damn, I second Monkey Ball. Especially the 1st because you couldn't just keep retrying like in 2's story mode.

I used to get so pissed off at that game. When I was six I would always get stuck on the part where you have to disarm the bombs underwater. Seems really easy now though.
Suikoden II was frustrating, because I was never that good at RPG games. The last levels on Frequency were annoying. The most recent challenging game is probably Ninja Gaiden.

Not the game...but Ruby Weapon in FFVII is a severe pain in the butt.
Which reminds me of someone I know who managed to Morph Emerald Weapon because there was a rumor you could revive Aeris with the item you got....didn't work.

Some games that took me a long time to finaly beat and some which I have yet to accomplish.
Zombie's ate my Neighbors - Beat
Final Fantasy 10 - Not yet
World of Warcraft - Some of the things you have to do in this game are insane hard.
Were Back - One of the hardest game's, better keep as many lives as possible. Not yet beat.
Mortal Kombat 2 - My favorite SNES game, Kintaro is a beast, no joke. I have beat this game many times and it has yet to get any easier.

Ghouls'n'Ghosts I think. Gotta practice, practice, and when you do get the end.... it starts all over again. How mean.
Contra bitches. How the hell do any of you call yourselves gamers and not have contra at the top of your difficult games list. i mean cmon. Its practically a physical impossiblity to beat it without the 30 life code.

Most shmups... especially those that start you from the beginning of the stage when you lose a life, rather than flying a new ship in where you are in the level.

Contra and Super C (Contra III was surprisingly easier but still a very damn good game).
Festers Quest
Master Blaster (Never could pass the damn "giant enemy crab").
Blast Corps
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Super Monkey Ball
Any classic were the game doesn't end but rather increases the difficulty until it finally kicks your ass.
