no the PS3 demos are only available on the PS3 store hence you can't download them anywhere else. the PS3 won't let you copy the demo to an external device either.

about the MP4 files on a DVD data disc, i'll have to try that myself.

lol that's what i thought at first but he clearly wants to give the demo to a friend without a internet (or a slow one) or vice versai don't have a ps3 yet i'm asking for my younger cousin. i connected his ps3 to the internet the other day and downloaded the ps3 update and installed the resistance, motor storm demo and bought the blast factor game. since the demo's are so damn big it takes a while to download them so i thought it would be easier if i just download them on my cpu and then install them from a disk. anyways can you play mp4 files from a dvd?

I guess you could copy them to a DVD, but you'd need to remove thePS3's HDD, and place it in either a PC or an external USB-box, which you then connect to the PC.

It should work. No comment oi the MP4 thing, though I can't see any reasons that it wouldn't work.

Or you just get a 8GB memory stick and copy it on that?

Sony plans to release a new patch to allow multi-tasking...
(Downloads from Sony store and play offline games.)
We may see this patch hit sometime around the UK launch.

Also, yes you can view MP4s directly from a CD/DVD Rom disk.

How about Quicktime H.264 trailers? I read somewhere there was a method to make them playable on PS3 without requiring any kind of re-encoding, but it was more complicated than simply editing the file extension.

Oh, and regarding demos and downloadable games, I'm afraid there's no way to back those up on external devices as they are DRMed or similar. I think.

The only way to do it would be to do what seph said, take the hdd in the first ps3, connect it to your computer with a mini sata -> ide/sata cable or external box, copy the files to the computer, then the disk or to the correct place on the 2nd ps3.

But you could mount the gameos drive in Linux, the problem then would be a high risk of corruption because that partition will always be mounted in the game os because it runs underneath Linux, mounting like that is not good. trust me.
