I guess this sucks for all the WoW fans wishing for a PS3 or 360 version of this game. I guess yer PC is your only place for your WoW addiction for now and forever.

Blizzard developer talks down rumours of WoW on consoles. Wii version definitely not happening.
Don't expect to see this on consoles

A Blizzard developer has suggested massively popular MMO World of Warcraft would not translate well to the Nintendo Wii.

Speaking to Pro-G at the launch of the game's first expansion, The Burning Crusade, Blizzard game designer Jonathan LeCraft said using the Wii Remote wouldn't work with the PC hit.

A number of user generated videos have appeared on the internet showing gamers playing World of Warcraft with a Wii remote, but LeCraft poured scorn on the possibility.

"You really do need a keyboard to play WoW," he said. "I've seen some mods where people have hooked up WoW to their Wii. When I saw that I was like, well, that's got to be pretty easy to PVP against, honestly. It's not something we're looking at right now."

The aptly named LeCraft also revealed Blizzard currently has no plans to port the game to the Xbox 360 or PS3, despite the success of Xbox Live and the development of the PS3's online service.

"We don't have any plans for it specifically," noted LeCraft. "We always keep all our options on the radar, but there are no plans for the immediate future."

Adding fuel to the fire of speculation about where Blizzard will take their other popular franchises, Starcraft and Diablo, LeCraft didn't rule out the possibility of the studio hosting another huge MMO alongside World of Warcraft.

He said: "I think we have the capacity for another one [MMO]. It [World of Warcraft] means that there's going to be some other cool games coming from the studio because we're very successful. And I think they're even going to be a step above what people expect.

"We're always considering our licenses when we think about our next product. They are really strong, well known licenses. We own them completely so we can do whatever we want. We can take the fiction in whatever direction or apply whatever gameplay we want."

However, LeCraft wouldn't budge when pressed on whether work on other titles had already begun, with a "Maybe" being all he'd say on the subject.

Expect a full length interview with Jonathan LeCraft on Thursday, followed by a review of the Burning Crusade on Friday.

Did anybody honestly expect WoW to appear on any game console?

To me it does't matter so much for a MMO like WoW to be on the console just because it was meant for the computer. I played it for a few months and then stopped so I'm done with it.

If it was designed for a console it would have to work with the control pads. I do not see the game working all that well with just those few buttons. Besides you dont need a very good PC to run the game anyways.

This is old news. No one would honestly expect WoW to make it to any console.

Heck, it won't even make it to PCs if these patches don't hurry the heck up.

Exactly...this is news? It's like Microsoft saying..."We don't currently have any plans to bring Halo 3 to the PS3..."

well as i was saynig before. Warhammer , Age of Conan and huxley are all mmos and are all hitting the 360 this year (conan may slip to early 2008)

So i think there will be a great console mmo experiance on the 360. One of those and later on the marvel mmo should make for a good console mmo

With 7 and a half million people already playing the game on computers, they have no need to move to consoles. Their main goal is likely to keep providing new content for their massive list of already subscribed members.

World of Warcraft toped 8 million last week.

I wouldn't mind playing a WoW game on 360.

Maybe something different other then a MMO.

well the benfit for some would be that for $400 you'd get a platform that would hopefully be able to run wow at high settings with no slow down.

at the cost of half the funcionality of the game due to lack of buttons

Well, MS doesn't allow keyboard use with games do they. Even though one would think they would have to make exceptions for MMO's.

This isn't fully true. They don't allow mouse and keyboards for most games. I use a keyboard on ff online (at least in the beta)

Other titles like Age of conan , warhammer , marvel mmo will all need keyboards to communicate with other players .

Or you could use that Keyboard attachment that was on the survey Microsoft sent out a while ago (attached to the bottom of the controller).
