Splinter Cell fans with a PS3 console have a new female spy character model to look forward to this March. A first to the series, a female spy character will be exclusive to the PS3's release of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent. PSM's February 2007 Issue has an exclusive look into the PS3's features of the game.
From PSM: "Having a female playable character in the game is something that we wanted to have since we started working on Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow," says Stephane Baudet (Studio Director at Ubisoft Annecy) "On Double Agent [for the Xbox 360], this idea was still present, but because of a lack of time we couldn't add it properly. Then when we started working on the PS3-specific content, the spy girl was at the top of our list. We really liked the idea because it really embraces the fact that the spy should be cat-like, very nimble."
To keep the multiplayer gameplay balanced, no stealth advantages have been given to the female spy character.
Features unique to the PS3 release include:
- Female spy multiplayer character
- Kinshasa Multiplayer Map
- Secret Base Mulitplayer Map
- SIXAXIS motion support (details not yet revealed).
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent is scheduled to hit the PLAYSTATION 3 worldwide in March 2007. Although the Xbox 360 version does not include the additional multiplayer features, there's always a possibility that they are released as downloadable content in the Xbox Live Marketplace. We'll keep you posted on any updates. Be sure to check out PSM's February 2007 for screenshots of the female spy character (picture Sam Fisher's spy outfit, blue googles (instead of green), scantily clad and with breasts).

Its funny how the suit looks kinda impractical to show off her body (not a surprise) and the lol @ her tribal tattoo up on her arm.

I'm not interested in this myself, but it's a very nice exclusive addition to the PS3 version. Unappealing character design though.

Perhaps people will get off Ubi's back about not properly porting games to the PS3 or supporting the platform...
The 360 version of SCDA is a solid title and any stealth fans should definately give this a go. It has the best plot and story line of any Splinter Cell IMO.
It's a great spy fix until the masterpiece called MGS4 is released later this year. Peace

Perhaps people will get off Ubi's back about not properly porting games to the PS3 or supporting the platform...Yeah, it was nice of them doing this as well as a number of additions and revisions to Blazing Angels. Well done.

I hate this Series...SC 1 was great and SC 3 was good , but this Series without any personality now , they try to copy MGS3 , SC 4 turn to be 2nd ver of GRAW ( one man show solo mission GRAW ) and they lost the pure stealth action in that last seaquel .
...Splinter Cell will be just like FIFA series ...new game every new year and with just few new gameplay element and something for every system ...i think they will start name the next games by the years ..like "Splinter Cell 2008" .."Splinter Cell 2009" or even "Splinter Cell London 2012 ".
SC 5 exclusive for x360 ? i doubt that cuz with the new UBI's EA wannabe marketing strategy SC 5 will be on all next and last gen consoles and cell phones ..

Can't say I'm a fan of that character design. I honestly think that looks hideous, beyond what I once thought hideous was....
And may I ask, what was the point of this? Frigging Ubisoft, this looks exactly like an EA-esque move to me... Looks pretty obvious why they put it in, pretty unreasonably scantily clad. I don't seem to see the purpose of how a shirt with only one sleeve and literally no protection on the other arm and beneath the ribs would be advantageous to a spy. Unless she's going to attempt at seducing her enemy, which I can't see working if it were me...
It really speaks to you what Ubi's intentions are with their franchises, especially when they say this is an addition 'that was at the top of their list,' but they couldn't add something so basic and simple due to time? Ya.. right...
*AMAZING - NOW FEMALE CHARACTER IN MULTIPLAYER - CAN YOU SAY IMPORTANT AND NECESSARY, GAMEPLAY OR EVEN STORY ENHANCING ADDITION*
No sir, err ma'am, whatever the hell you are... I'm not sure I can.
At least the actual game will be reasonably solid like on the 360, but again, definitely not a fan of this 'addition' or whatever the hell it's called.

That's the only way anyone is going to care.
This is really sexist by Ubisoft by the way. "we are adding a female character so let's call her 'female spy'"

It's not sexist, it's just the underlying idea is so weak, and, just, crappy.

I find the idea sexist. Don't get me wrong, I hardly care but I'm just putting it out there.
Is the male spies called 'male spy'? Every black character called 'the black guy'? No.
This character is only identified by her sex which is de-meaning.

When does the Feb issue of PSM come out?
curryking1
01-21-2007, 02:33 AM
masteratt, I think that is being far too sensitive. It's the same thing as actor/actress. Or man/woman.
I'm sure when people are deciding which one to use they will say to themselves 'should I use the male/guy or the female/girl one.' Maybe we just see it in a different context though, o well.

The friggin character isn't even anyway related to the singleplayer story. Just a generic character with boobs(was this sexist?:S sorry) in Multiplayer fights. And not like this character can't be added later to other consoles who have online.
I think Ubisoft are really being an ass at claiming new content for PS3. PR Bullshit to sell the ps3 version after months of its release on other platforms.

Um, I saw the original thread. That's not her 'name' if she has one. It's just the title for the concept drawing. The male spy had 'male spy' on his concept art respectively. She's not an important character she's just a multiplayer model.

Good call Lalilulelo. I was thinking that the multiplayer male model would have the same kind of title as well.

I think they should scrap it to, but this is French EA. It only needs to help the bottom dollar.

Splinter Cell Producer Interview
Ubisoft's internal Q&A covers PS3-exclusive content, including new maps and a hot girl.
by Jeremy Dunham
January 25, 2007 - French publishing giant Ubisoft plans to delve into the shadows once again with the PlayStation 3 release of last year's critically-praised stealth-actioner, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Due out in March, this fourth installment of Ubi's highly popular sneak series adds new features and content that previous editions didn't have. In this internal Q&A with Ubisoft Annecy producer, Mathieu Hector, the company explains what those extras are and what PlayStation 3 owners can expect when they play Double Agent for themselves this coming March.
What are the main changes between the Xbox 360 version of SCDA and the PS3 version? Both for the single player and the multiplayer.
Mathieu Hector: The PlayStation 3 version of SCDA is based on the next-gen design of the game, which has already been released on Xbox 360 and PC. However, this version features significant improvements and exclusive content. The Multiplayer features an additional new spy character (a spy girl), two extra maps based on completely new environments and a new set of co-op challenges Moreover, the additional time allowed us to increase the polish of both parts of the game.
Overall, the improved accessibility, the multiplayer exclusive content and the motion sensor support are the advantages that make the PS3 version the ultimate version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent.
Is SCDA using the Sixaxis feature that makes PlayStation 3 unique?
Hector: The Sixaxis sensor has been implemented in both part of the game as well. In the Single Player mode, we were free to experiment various designs for the motion sensor implementation. It is used from time to time to operate various gadgets like picking doors or hacking security systems, or for Sam's special moves like swimming or paragliding. In the Multiplayer mode, the player controls the Drone with the tilt function.
We implemented the Sixaxis control when it was fun to play or adding value to the game play experience.
What was the big reason to implement a female multiplayer skin?
Hector: Having a female playable character in the game is something we wanted to have since we started working on Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow!
On Double Agent, this idea was still present, but we didn't have the chance to implement it on time for the first versions. Therefore, when we started working on the PS3 specific content, the spy girl was on top of our list.
We really liked the idea because it really embraces the fact that the spy should be cat-like, very nimble. And for players like me, it's always more pleasant to follow the acrobatics of a female character, supple and elegant, than those of a born-to-kill-guy!
The PlayStation network has a different setup than Microsoft's Xbox Live. Can we expect the same play on Ubisoft's own servers?
Hector: The title uses a network middleware solution already successfully used on PC and PS2. The PlayStation Network Platform provides all the required services to match the Xbox live quality. The online part of the game has been on beta test since November 2006 on PS3 and we are 100% confident to provide a quality online experience.
Is there anything else you would like to share with gamers about SCDA for PS3?
Hector: Yes, we are very happy with the multiplayer's extra content we developed specifically for the PS3 version. Rather than just more of the same, the NSA training centre and Kinshasa multiplayer maps are really different than the original multiplayer maps. Those maps have been produced with Ubisoft Milan, Italy, the studio which previously worked on the PS2 Multiplayer maps and we hope the PS3 players will enjoy playing them just as much as we did.

Splinter Cell: DA for 360 was awesome...but I doubt this will be as good. Why:huh: Isn't it the same game?
I never liked any of these games to be honest. Only played the original Splinter Cell. I do feel a push to go online now that I have my router working and PS3 stuff is all free and what not. Probably still won't touch this game though. Bland Story=Bland game in my world.

off topic, thought you psinexters would enjoy this... my new comic
http://forums.e-mpire.com/showpost.php?p=1388991&postcount=13
On topic, I agree. I've never really been able to get into one of these games.
Splinter Cell: DA for 360 was awesome...but I doubt this will be as good.
how you figure? the same game with an extra characters, more maps and what not? it is like a SC:DA Director's Cut or something.
you really don't like anything with the PS3 initials on it do you? I am mean give any reason you think so. I'm just curious.
and this gives me a good reason why SC was delayed on PS3. people immediately jumped on Ubi's back saying how they are incompetent and lazy. well, if it was a straight port with nothing new, we would have the game at the same time as the other versions got release. heck, they didn't need to add anything seeing the PS3 library is still very slim. yet they went and added some features that fans would want to play with on any version.
I think new maps will be available for d/l on PSN and LIVE soon.
