eh... ps3 problem

i had my controller plugged in charging last night. when i turne don my system today it was still plugged in. turned it on, and it came to the user selection screen. the controller light was flashing, i guess cause it was charging, and i hit the PS button. nothing seemed to happen so i hit it again, and the PS3 froze. the swirling background thing froze and all. i tried to turn off the system and it wouldn't turn off. held down the power button a lil longer and it fianlly did, but made a error-style beep as it went off (like when you try to eject and there's no disc in). unplugged the controller and turned it back on, it worked but gave an error saying it couldn't log me onto the PS network. restarted again this time holding the on button til it beeped and reset all the settings. still the same problem. when i go to Sign In it shows my username/password and i hit Sign In and it gives me the same error. i dunno if there's something wrong with my ps3 now or if there's just a network problem.

Is your ps3 plugged into a router?

yeah. just tested and web browser works. Sign In and PS3 Store does not.

funny you mention it, just checked mine, and I'm signed out as well. can't log in.
anyone else experiencing this problem?

ah, i hope that's the prob. the way it took forever for it to turn off and amde an error beep i thought my ps3 was broke.

Cool, good to hear it's on their end. Perhaps they are updating the servers.

Well, my PS3's hit an error here or there where you have to shut it down and it does that beep-beep! noise, but it started back up just fine. So I'd bet money it's not your ps3, it's just the PSN servers cutting up for whatever reason.

Anyone else experiencing this should post and let us know the deal, if it's universal or what. If there's a bunch of us, it's easier to isolate the problem.

Looks like until 7pm EST, 6pm Central 4pm Pacific, went offline about 1/2 hour ago.
I wonder if it's just for maintenence or maybe some upgrades too?

I'm getting the error as well. The Browser works fine however. So I can assume that Sony is working on the server.
