This is unprecedented for a Sony console two months after launch.

That is really bad news. In the very country where Sony is king, I wouldn't have expected slow sales. I think this is an earth shattering wakeup call for Sony of all regions.

This is Japanese retailers doing their own thing; nothing uncommon in that country. It's not the greatest sign in the world for PS3 demand there of course, but nor is it a sign of doom.

Price to produce should drop faster than any of their previous consoles though...........so it dropping faster is not necessarily bad. (yet)
PS3 is priced, people screem "too expensive!"
PS3 price gets lowered, people screem "it's dying!"
....
and another thing, doens't the 60G model have an open price or something there? retailers can change their offers anytime.

The price drop has been proven to be only at one retail chain by Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=25329411&sid=6164563&tag=latestnews;title;1) and it was that stores decision. No other stores are doing it, this is just something small spread like wildfire by fanboys.

Judging the ps3 being "d0omD3d" on this is like saying...well i can't think of an analogy ATM but you know what i mean.

If a system selling well, why cutting the price down??
PS2 were so successful and popular, that sony had to cut the price of the system more then a year after launch.
this news reminds me of Gamecube and sega Dreamcast

Sony didn't cut the price, dude. Get the facts straight before posting. Sony has had an open pricing structure with PS3 in Japan since the launch. The stores are able to cut and raise prices as they wish. ONE retailer decided to drop it down as, after all, we are in a very bad time for sales in the entire gaming industry.

But it's not Sony who's cutting the price, it's a retailer. A single one.
EDIT: Beaten. Too obvious for people with healthy eyes.

Once a few more really good games are released for the PS3 the sales will increase very quickly.

Also, it was just the 20GB model not the 60GB one.

Yea, guys, it's already been proven to only be one retailer cutting the price of the 20 gig model. This is FUD.

nobody is getting the 20gig unit, if you can afford the ps3 you may as well swallow it and get the 60gig.
