BioWare's Mass Effect in development for PS3?

Being that MS is publishing Mass Effect, i can't see Mass Effect as the game their working on, so it's more than likely a brand new IP. but then again....Enchant Arms had "Only on Xbox 360" sticker and we all knew what happened

Is BioWare currently developing for PS3? Well, word on the interweb says a tentative yes.

According to a report on Shacknews, BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka apparently let slip to gamers attending the Video Games Live concert in Edmonton, Canada earlier in the week that the dev's working with Sony's new console

There's been no follow-up confirmation or denial from the studio as yet, but we're hoping to prise that from its jaws later today.

Should BioWare be developing for PS3, would it be its shooter-RPG Mass Effect that's to grace the console as well as Xbox 360? Or does the developer have plans to release its yet-to-be-fully-announced MMORPG on the machine? Or would it be an entirely new IP?

Someone needs to make a super massive huge ass battle Star Wars game. And I don't mean a BF2 kind of game, I mean a Killzone kind of game. How sick would that be, seriously.

If MS is the publisher I doubt it, unless BioWare managed to hang onto the rights to it. A new game from Bio Ware would be cool though.

Regarding the "Only on XBox 360" logo on "Enchant Arms", are there more cases like that? At the time being, it was true, but with a PS3 game too, that logo on that game would - in some countries - be deemed false marketing.

I liked Star Wars KotoR and Mass Effect looks really good. Whatever they have instore should be awesome...

This is good news if true. Maybe they're porting Neverwinter Nights 2? That might be a good move to get some PS3 dev time under their belts before trying a new IP...

Nope, I believe Cell Factor is a third/first-person shooter involving weird psychics that's being developed for the failed Ageia physics PPU.

Mass Effect is Bioware's biggest project right now. It seems to be a large futuristic rpg/shooter designed around KOTOR's mechanics where every decision you make in the game affects its outcome.

Well you are probably right that it isn't Mass Effect, as MS is the publisher, but what is stopping them from put something other then a port on the PS3?

I seriously doubt that Bioware would bring ME to the PS3 but if they did it would be a monstrous acquisition. Regardless having Bioware support is always a plus as they are very competent devs.

Star Wars:KOTOR 3 would be great, the Original KOTOR is the best RPG ever made IMO, I once said that FF7 was the greatest RPG ever made, but not anymore, I started playing Kotor again, The first time i beat the game it was on the Lightside, but now that I am going through it on the Darkside, wow!!! this is the BEST RPG I have ever played, KOTOR 3 would be a Steal for PS3.

Earlier in the week reports hit the 'net suggesting BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka recently let slip that the developer is working with PS3.

Following our coverage of the report, we fired an email off to the developer to get its response.

"Thanks for your note, but we haven't made any official announcements about any plans for the PS3," BioWare PR co-ordinator Erik Einsiedel told us.

So while remaining tight-lipped, BioWare hasn't flat out denied it's developing for Sony's console.
