On FPS, I play normal unless it is like goden eye where you have 'objectives' and if you don't do them perfectly, it's game over.

Fighting games, very easy.

Everything else, normal. I don't ever even try hard.

Always normal.
Most games you can play again in a harder difficulty but that to me is 100% pointless.

edit: i usually play on the hardest setting when it comes to sports games.

I play on normal, but I did have to set the difficulty back to easy for Devil May Cry 3.

If a game doesn't take forever to complete then I usually try and play again on a harder setting.

Normal usually. Though sometimes I go back and play on hard.

I just start the game on the defualt difficulty. If the games good like GoW, it gets played on the harder difficulties.

i usually start on the default difficulty, but if I like the game enough, I'll usually go to the hardest level.

Fighting games , however, always get set on the hardest level from the get-go.

when i have no idea what i'm doing i start on easy (so yeah, that's like most of the time). otherwise, i'll play on normal. only when i really REALLY like a game is when i'll go back and play the game on hard(metroid prime, timesplitters, gears of war).

I usually play on normal, seing as that's the setting the designers had in mind when they made the game.

I have never really been known to replay a game, so the higher difficulty thing is wasted on me.

I start on normal. If it's too hard, I try easy. If I beat it, I try again on hard, assuming I'm still interested in the game.

Usually normal.
Unless it's a music game, then I play on the hardest difficulty unlocked at the time. Or SSBM with Lvl.9 AI's.

Fighting games: Easy (or the bare minimum difficulty for unlocking things (like in tekken)), then steadily escalate it to build my skill.

Any other game I set to Normal Difficulty, because that's the default game experience, all other modes were tweaked from there, and I don't have a burning desire to feel like a badass. Only game I went out of my way with this was God of War's God (very hard) Difficulty. I beat DMC3 (original release) on normal, and the first DMC. The other difficulties I was like fuck that.

I always always try to get to the hardest difficulty on fighting games, but even then most computers have a very defined pattern which can be figured out easily. This is why I prefer human competitors instead. ^_^

normal at first, then hard, depends on the game though...if the controls are hard to get used to then a harder setting just pisses you off

If a game doesn't take forever to complete then I usually try and play again on a harder setting.

Same, usually I start on Normal though.

Goldeneye I played through all difficulties and unlocked every cheat option legitimately. Boo-ya.

Normal for me most of the time... unless im not so sure about whether or not the game will hold my attention for the entire length of it, then its easy.

I usually play on normal, seing as that's the setting the designers had in mind when they made the game. Precisely. Same here.

I only play on harder difficulties as long as there are unlockable extras that make it worth it. Sometimes it's not even worth it to play in easy level as some content may be made inaccessible that way. For instance, in Devil May Cry 1, you just got to see all but three enemy kinds if you played in easy difficulty. Granted the DMC series are tough games in normal the first time you play them, but it was amazing the first time I had to fight the Shadow creatures as well as those fire-breathing enemies and ice beasts.

I think there were many Megadrive / Genesis games that had bonus levels as long as you played in harder difficulties. That was encouraging, and I think that's not so common now.

I start off on normal and then go from there. If I really enjoy the game I usually play it a second time on hard. If I dislike it I will move it down to easy to hurry up and finish

I use the default difficulty for a majority of games. I only increase the difficulty if there's an actual reason to so do. An example being Dynasty Warriors 4. If it was put on a harder difficulty, you got more experience for your weapons and had a better chance of finding higher leveled items. Streets of Rage had a different ending if you put it on a higher difficulty. I think the only time I lower the difficulty for games is for fighting games. As much as I love them, I suck at playing them.

I usually always start on Normal, complete the game, and then go through on the Hard difficulty or difficulties. Last game I played through on the easiest difficulty was Gears.

I play pretty much every game on normal to start with, and then move up in difficulty levels after beating it.

If you lose interest after playing the game once was it really worth the purchase anyway?

How many times do you watch movies you buy?

If they're good movies? A whole lot of times.
