Well, in a word, metal.
I discount, of course, the bullshit genres of music such as nu-metal, alternative metal and so on. They have no place in metal.
I prefer the more extreme varieties of doom metal and the more traditional varieties of black metal, but I'm still partial to most other sub-genre's of metal.
I've also quite taken to ambient, dark ambient and a bit of trip-hop.
I'm not going to bother listing bands.
Maybe later.

I really can listen to almost any music and thoroughly enjoy it, but what I listen to most I guess would be classified as rock not including modern rock (Nickelback, Hinder, etc.)
I like stuff like Coldplay, Radiohead, The Beatles, The Killers, Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service, Saves the Day, etc.

I like The Rasmus because of their basic rock song structures, a subtle use of vocal harmony, a vocal-centric aesthetic and minor key tonality.
I like AFI because of their with hard rock roots, punk influences, a subtle use of vocal harmony, repetitive melodic phrasing and minor key tonality... sometimes with dual vocal harmony with an aggressive male vocalist and usually with dirty electric guitar riffs.
I like John Mayer because of their subtle use of vocal harmony, a vocal-centric aesthetic, a major key tonality, electric rhythm guitars and acoustic rhythm guitars.
I like The Black Mages because of their hard rock roots, electronic influences, demanding instrumental part writing, extensive vamping, mild rhythm synopation and meandering melodic phrasing.
Wow, pandora.com'ing my four favourite artists was a great idea.
Hah I thought those descriptions looked familiar.

Love rap, hip-hop etc, Rock and alternative. There are some misc. bands I listen to though. Sometimes I get down on some oldies too. As far as bands in particular I cant really pick any favs.
I mostly listen to stuff in the rock and metal genres. When it comes to favorite bands and stuff, I really don't have that many. I happen to have a song or two by the same band, but I couldn't get myself into their other songs. Bands I can say I like, though, are Metallica, Iron Maiden, DragonForce, Coheed & Cambria, Rush, The Prize Fighter Inferno, Dream Theater, and minibosses. Throw in a little RHCP, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Crush 40, Demons & Wizards, Iced Earth, In Flames, Lapis Lazuli (Guilty Gear music), and System of a Down as well.

I like a lot of different kinds of music, but what I actually listen to regularly is rock 'n' roll, with a heavy emphasis on classic rock. I'll also listen to my local oldies station every so often, I love that stuff.
My favorites are:
The Beatles (greatest band ever), Eric Clapton (greatest guitarist ever), Led Zeppelin, Buddy Holly, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, etc.
You can sort of tell what styles I dig from that list I think.
Also, kind of to go against my own grain here, I HATE U2, and I'm not very fond of The Who.
EDIT: I also have to mention my hometown boys, Billy Joel and Brian Setzer.
Hendrix > Clapton, SRV > Clapton
U2 do suck though

I would not.
I'd sooner reccomend the first Mr. Bungle album, if you're not already familiar with it.
Then the third, then the second.
The third is the best, the second is my favorite and the first is more similar to those other Patton projects you mentioned.
From what I've listened to, Peeping Tom is more of a 'if Pop music was awesome' kinda album.
It probably appeals more to fans of the 'General Patton Vs. The X-Ecutioners' album.
