Microsoft tries to "own the consumer" with Xbox
Biggest games makers refuse to play
MICROSOFT IS HAVING A TOUGH TIME getting support for its Xbox Live. The Vole's usual strategy of keeping as much of the money for itself as possible isn't sitting well with the biggest games makers. Electronic Arts and Eidos have both said they will not be supporting Xbox Live.
According to Bloomberg, the chief executive of Eidos said, "we don't feel comfortable with Microsoft's business model - they own the consumer." This is down to Microsoft being determined to control the system that Xboxes connect to and, what a surprise, determined to control the subscriptions. According to Eidos, that leaves no real incentive for it to take part. Conversely, Eidos is quite happily beavering away to make online games for the Playstation 2.
Electronic Arts was quoted as saying that it had no plans for online games for the Xbox either. Although it didn't go into details, it seems likely that the reasons are similar. EA claimed that it couldn't agree to Microsoft's terms.
Analysts are already circling like vultures and pointing to this being a bad omen for Xbox. With companies as big as Electronic Arts and Eidos turning up their noses, it's really no surprise. It is a bad omen.

The game makes use of the Halo-style controls for its core mechanics and tosses in some additional features in terms of your access to specific items or weapons.

Most notably on the console side, the Xbox version will feature Xbox Live support.

EA not going to develop for xbox live ... is this new news? I thought that they had made their intentions clear along time ago.
Any way edidos = commandos 3 online gone... who cares
It is ironic that however alot of other developes are fine with this "contract" as such Moto Gp 2 will rock boys
Note: Is this well, stupid smellslikenintendospirit is obviously trying to find a fault in xboxLive, it is ironic that he can downplay xbox live while his own little consolse onlne plan is flondering when Nintendo or IF Nintendo can get a better online plan then I'll quote Mario "Shuttup ap yourra Mouttthh".

So... a Motocross game is going to save X-Box Live? Maybe you miss the point of having games like possibly Medal of Honor, Madden, and maybe even The Sims Online on XBL? You know, actual hits?
...if you don't know Nintendo's plan already, then just stop typing. It's not like it hasn't been thrown around the net twice already. X-Box Live losing an unknown amount (do we have a sum yet) of cash... I wouldn't call it the best plan. Then again, the plan for X-Box or XBL hasn't really been to make money, just get a user base.

It's not losing support at all, it's just that EA won't put games like Madden online because Microsoft would be hosting all the servers instead of EA.

I had the same feeling as Phantagram:
Oh no, no EA!!! I think I'll go cry now..we won't get The Sims! Which is a hella-shitty game anyways! No Madden!? Boohoo!

Actually The Sims will come out for XBox in a little over a week......... it's just that EA isn't putting their games online over XBox Live because they set-up their own online network, which has failed horribly, and they don't want to make themselves look even, uh, "lamer" than they already are.

Oh, the game sucks anyways. I won't buy it.
And no Madden online? Aww shucks. That sucks ;)

Yeah, EA only makes crappy online games like Battlefield 1942. Who needs award-winning games like that anyway?

EA didn't make that game, DICE did. EA just published it. DICE is the company that made RalliSport Challenge (and are working on RalliSport Challenge 2) and are working on Midtown Madness 3; RSC2 and MM3 will be online VIA XBox Live :D

Yep DICE owns. Midtown Madness 3 is looking sweet :D
