Want to get your road rage on? Sony Computer Entertainment America will update the PLAYSTATION®Store on Thursday with a demo of Full Auto™ 2: Battlelines for the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system, and the classic PlayStation® title, Destruction Derby, for the PSP®(PlayStation®Portable) system.
Below are the details on the new offerings from the PLAYSTATION Store:
· Check out a demo for Sega’s Full Auto 2: Battlelines to experience the next generation of car combat on the PS3 system. Choose your vehicle and weapons, and then launch into battle. Obliterate the city to block your opponents, unlock hidden power-ups and discover invaluable new routes.
· In Destruction Derby ($5.99) for the PSP system, you’re on a mission to bash, smash and crash into the other guy until his auto (or yours) gives up the ghost. The array of tracks and race styles will keep you coming back for more.
· Download trailers for upcoming movies from Sony Pictures.

This is NOT a rumor, I've gotten confirmation directly from Sony (they are the ones who told me about it).
Tekken 5 won't be in the update, only full auto 2 demo, destruction derby, and some movie trailers.

There is a limit for download only games (think Calling All Cars, Flow, Blast Factor). The limit is 500 mb, but as far as demos and stuff there isn't a size limit. The limit for XBLA titles are 50mb unless the game requires more in which case the limit can be raised to 250mb (or around that mark).

Full Auto 2 a demo of a full fledged game, Blast Factor is a complete downloadable game.

I wasn't even comparing, just making the off topic statement about the game being the same size as the demo.

There is a limit for download only games (think Calling All Cars, Flow, Blast Factor). The limit is 500 mb, but as far as demos and stuff there isn't a size limit. That limit is there with the sole purpose that downloadable games are usually of a reasonable size, so it's not a rule. As a matter of fact, I think Tekken 5 HD is around 800 MB. There will be many exceptions, if you could call them exceptions given that there's no actual limit and that there could be a lot of them.

9 CommentsSony exec Phil Harrison has dropped a heavy hint that PS3 owners will be able to download movies and TV to the console in the not-to-distant future.
"I think PlayStation 3 needs to stand for gaming and digital entertainment in the living room pushing the envelope of high definition, pushing the envelope of broadband, and of course that includes more than just games", Harrison explained to 1Up.com when queried about plans for TV and movie downloads through PlayStation Network.
He continued, "We don't have the announcements that you're probably looking for today, but it is digital data. We have a hard drive, we have a commerce engine, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out we will have that on the network very shortly".
In the interview, Harrison also explained that the decision to include a hard drive in every PS3 was made "because we saw the long term benefit... The ten year plan of allowing people to download all kinds of digital content to their PlayStation 3 - not just games but movies, music, HD, standard definition TV, you name it."
Microsoft of course has already introduced a TV and movie download service States-side for Xbox 360. Via Video Marketplace, 360 owners can download standard and high-definition shows and films.

Sony Online Entertainment will release a PS3 online game Q*bert on PlayStation Store on February 22, 2007, for US$4.99 (600 yen). The game will have worldwide online rankings.
i loved this game...
Sony Online Entertainment isn't exactly synonymous with retro gaming, but the publisher is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in bringing older titles to the PlayStation 3. Last month the company announced that it was bringing six vintage Midway arcade games to the PlayStation Network online store, and the company followed it up this week with word that it was bringing a Gottlieb classic to the PS3 as well.
Next week, Sony Online Entertainment will release Q*Bert for the PlayStation Network's online store. The game will support resolutions up to 720p and incorporate worldwide online leaderboards. The edges of the game's playfield on the PS3 will also be framed by artwork designed to mimic that of the 1982 arcade cabinet, with pictures of the game's characters, including Q*Bert, Ugg, Coily, and Wrong-Way. Q*Bert is set for release February 22 and will carry a price of $4.99.

That's true it isn't a firm rule, per se, but its still something there to stop devs from going overboard on the size limit. So, its more of a guideline (or target) than a rule.
