I recently decided to try linux again after a long period of time (mandrake wasn't all that...impressive) and now I'm using opensuse 10.2.
Great OS and I'm loving XGL-Beryl, but there is one issue. After I install Beryl, my Nvidia graphics configuration window loses many options.
My XGL panel tells me that 3D acceleration is enabled, but when i try to run a game like Doom3, I get an error message saying that 3d acceleration (direct rendering) is disabled, but XGL-beryl is still running nice and smooth.
I tried reinstalling my graphics drivers, but that was a terrible idea because my whole OS crashed and refused to load gdm on boot, saying my Xserver config has errors.
I reinstalled Suse and got Xgl up and running again, but I'm still facing the same problem with my high-end 3d games. I get the same message telling me that direct rending is disabled.
Any ideas?
Do I just need to disable Xgl when I want to play games?
