Help with Flash MX

I just need someone with experience to help my with my mega halo game. I got the intro and countdown working... now i just need to make the game. I have been trying to look at how they made there samples, and the only thing really unusual is the masks. They have no programming code at all(I am looking at the joystick sample). I figured out how to make masks, but i dont know how to use them. Anyone wanna help?

If you can't see any for the PC then use the mac one. It is the same I think?
