Got this email today.

Comes with demo disks. I like demo disks.

I actually resubscribed to OPM Aussie as I missed the magazine, even though the demo disks are rehashes and the reviews aren't worth reading.

Dear Valued Subscriber,

I'm pleased to inform you that Official PlayStation 2 Magazine has been relaunched this month as Official PlayStation Magazine. Rather than being specifically PS2-focused the new magazine will cover all three PlayStations - PS3, PS2 and PSP. To celebrate the launch we have increased the mag from 100 pages to a 150-page super issue, where you'll find extensive coverage for whichever PlayStation you own. As well as the increased size we have also gathered a range of free posters and discount coupons to further enhance the value for you.

We are also working closely with Sony on a new demo disc for the magazine but because the PS3 is still in the process of being launched, demo discs were not able to be produced for the first issue. We expect to have playable demo discs included with either issue #3 or issue #4 of Official PlayStation Magazine. The disc will definitely have playable PS3 demos on it - something we're really excited to be able to offer. We're also working on having the disc being a dual-format DVD that is compatible with both PS2 and PS3 consoles and has playable demos for both.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the new Official PlayStation Magazine even more than you enjoyed Official PlayStation 2 Magazine and I thank you for your patience as we finalise the new demo discs.

I've totally lost my interest in most mags, when i can get the info i need faster, better and cheaper on the internet i just don't bother to pick a mag up. But i loved the demo's and some of the stories.

with internet and lack of real VG journalist and VG journalism .. magazines is useless now..

in the past (mid 90s ) there was talented reviewer and genius writers in magazines plus all the old good columns, i remember buying GM , EDGE . PC gamer just to read what guys like Les Ellis will write about this game or that...but now its different .

these days magazine ppl turn to be all fanboys ( like the US OPM ) ..all based and hypocrite, fall of false news and stupid rumors , the columns now just like fan blogs ..and the reviews not like the old days..

but i still have my old issues collection of GamesMaster , OPM , PSM , EDGE , PC gamer...oh boy.. The Good Old Days :(

I have to agree with you.

It's sad gameing magazines are crap these days. It was not always so as you said, with good writers, columns and good reviews and stuff.
The internet is indeed the way now for news, reviews, information, screens, demos and what not. The sad thing there is you have to take almost everything with a considerable amount of salt and even if you believe something, you better keep the chance of it being false in your mind, just in case. There's too much FUD, BS and hype going on these days. Hype can be nice though, if you can keep your self realistic while going with it.

Speak of the devil it turned up this morning.

You may have video reviews with jaded frat boys dissing legendary AM2 fighters, but do you have a fine poster of Final Fantasy XII. :)

Inset, giant ad for Saints Row PS3.

I'll take a couple of photos. Full of adverts for PS3 games. It's like PS3 is here already.

But yeah, I do basically buy them for the demo disks and demo disks are obsolete now, but it's kinda comforting really. :) You open up the magazine and get hit in the face with one AAA title after another, and see what a great console you've bought and what a cool ride it'll be. The ultimate cure for FUD.

I wonder why there isn't any Saints Row PS3 footage yet. Maybe it sucks.

Lookout... GTA? Give me a break, they really ought to stop with that nonsense until we see what a next gen GTA is all about, not to mention that SA isn't even that uncomparable from last gen.

Anyways, cool look at the mag.
