View Full Version : GROWL! What's wrong with my computer?

Every once in a while my internet is messes up and the internet won't come on etc...this has been happening for a couple of days now and it like denies our internet sort of for a few hours...

Is it our modem?(we have a d/s/l) or our internet provider?

I don't know much about computers in a techincal way but this is all the information I can give right now...I hope someone knows whats going on. :(

1. Disconnect your modem.
2. Throw it is the trash.
3. Never come online again.

Everybody wins!

You are supposed to disconnect the modem for 30 seconds, but I'm not sure if your PC is supposed to be on or off, I'll wait for soemone like Prince to answer that.

Doesn't matter. To refresh the memory in the modem, unplug the modem power cord for 30 seconds.

I had problems with running Zone Alarm and a hardware firewall together as well and ZA freaked out and locked me down.

Just type a phrase in Google and it should give you soemthing if that doesn't work *where is NukeBlaze?* :o

^I think hes gone for like a month.

That always happens to me. Well when it does it goes on for a few days. Hasen't happened in a while though. Alll that I did was unplug for like 10 minutes then plug it back in. It may have helped?

your modem has become sentient and has come to the realization that you are a spam whore. no j/k. it sounds like your modem is just dirty. put it in your dishwashing machine and it'll come back out like new

Sorry for the double post but I need to bump this...what do I unplug? I unplugged everything for like an hour but it still keeps not letting me on! I'm sick of this the computer is out for like 10 hours or more each time and only lets me on for like an 1 hour before going out again. I WANT TO BREAK THIS COMPUTER AND STUFF!

Call ISP, ask them about a line test. They should ve able to schedual a day where a technican will come out to test the line. This may be done via the ISP or the compnay providing the wire. It should like either faulty line or modem, but I would place my bet on the line.
