Anouncements:

Firmware update available on the 8th for North America/Japan and Asia. European PS3's will be preloaded with this latest update.

Features of this latest firmware include:

More refined PS Store frontend
Playstation Network integrity enhanced
Wallpapers from pictures
Ability to change background colours
Sony Connect Store for music and movies added to the PS Store. Hundreds of trailers/full films/song videos and mps3's available for download.
Playstation Card option in PS Store enabled.
Playstation Lifestyle- Similar to my space/youtube. User generated content and experiences are the key.

Removal of Emotion Engine chips in PS3's in NA and Japan to follow in April. Reason for this is to reduce costs and focus on enhanced opportunities via software. Benefits include the ability to upscale selected PSone/PS2 games to 1080i/720p.

Lots of development talk.
Release dates for key games. Warhawk in June/July 2007. Heavenly Sword delayed. Killzone and MGS4 in late 2007.

how'd you figure? since they promised around a thousand games on day one, it will obviously not be an X2 case where they had to go by a game per game bases.

No it won't! that's just crazy.
Yep they will support some titles from the get go add a few more in time then simply drop the whole ordeal within a year or two. Sony is not going to invest so much time into R&D for a feature that is of so little importance. If Sony was serious about BC they would have never eliminated the hardware.

They promised a 1000 games on day one how much is the PS2 library?? Also its still unknown if they are going to deliver a 1000 on day one, promises mean next to nothing in this industry. To go on there is no guarantee that titles can be converted in a lump sum basis many titles may infact have to be done on a game to game basis.

BC will never be officially dropped but it will be an issue of very little importance. I seriously doubt Sony ends up anywhere near close to supporting all of the PS2 library.

I see what you mean it sounds odd, nah there is nothing coming out for the PS2 Im interested in and I lost my PS2 memory card with my files :cry2: so I decided to play old PSone games since Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy VIII have been so tempting lately with the lack of good games.

:laugh: it just sounds false because it's so many dreams coming true at once... I'd love it if it weren't true but I've been let down before about potential announcements that never happened... kinda like the February/March announcement we were supposed to get last year or whatever. I'd rather just wait 'till the keynote and take it directly from Sony :)
