I want to know who long can the game keep it up. is this one of the quick fads to fade or will Japanese gamers keep buying this game for a few more weeks?
I would guess they would be the same as any DW game released.

Wow, its great to see the PS3 and PSP doing so well. I cannot wait to see what the numbers look like next week after the affects of GDC kick in :)

When will we have some NA numbers?

Am I reading that chart correctly!?

The PS3 has sold more total units than the Xbox 360 already.

VG Charts? Ugh...

VGCharts is literally nothing more than a compilation of NPD sales in America and Famitsu sales in Japan, with the quarterly shipped numbers stated by the companies kept on record as well.

I understand that some people aren't comfortable with VGCharts for whatever reason, but if you're comfortable with those other two organizations I stated, you can put your worries behind you in terms of VG veracity.

lol @ 360. bluedragon or whatever it was didn't do much for a long time did it? see ms, one game ain't gonna win you Japan. There's much smarter then that.

The Wii is kicking ASS!

^Exactly, you can't just say 'bam, we have 3 JRPGs, we're gonna have an impact in Japan now.'

It's different than that, Japan is a different freaking country, on the opposite side of the globe! It has it's own culture and norms and ideas of what works and what doesn't. You need a portfolio of tens to hundreds of games that Japan's people will be interested like Ninty and Sony have.

Great, you have 2 or 3 JRPGs. Ok... now what accounts for Nintendogs? Or Trauma Centre? Or Brain Age? That's just 2 or 3 titles, I think you need something a bit more substantial than that. The NDS tells you how you get stuff done over in those parts.

one market down, two to go. ;)

Europe's gonna be a big splash for Playstation :)

Am I reading that chart correctly!?

The PS3 has sold more total units than the Xbox 360 already. :clap:That was a month after launch, actually. Right now it has sold twice as much.

It doesn't sound like too much, but considering that 360 has always been a bargain over there, that it got a huge (in relative terms) push with Blue Dragon recently, that PS3 launched with few Japanese-appealing games even until now, that it costs at least double as much as 360 and that Nintendo has been very successful lately, I guess it couldn't do better.

The Japanese bought into the ps3 and wii early even though they had weak Japanese support to start off with because they knew that they were going to be the wiser platform for their gaming habits in the long run. They are smart enough to know that ms will just put a few games out their that appeal to them just to say "hey, look! we can be Japanese too, our [very small collection of] Japanese games are really good!", and they also know that ninty and sony, having their heart in Japan, will have their very best games appealing to the Japanese.

PS3 a 600$ system with no killer apps or JRPG doing as good as 250$ system ...

PSP great...

PS3 isn't $600.00 over there. They got a price cut even before it launched.

This is definitely it's best week in a while it should stay afloat near this level from now on. I doubt we'll see PS3 ever drop below 20k until PS4 comes around.

PSP is riding it's best selling game ever in Japan. This will drop back down, unlike PS3.

psp's sales will drop down again but it does show it is still competing, it's not dying out.

They need something more than Monster Hunter though. Not even Metal Gear gave it much of a boost over there.

^ The MGS series is more popular in the US & UK...

It would be interesting to see what the PS3 numbers will be next week. It was high due to Gundam Musou being released.

PSP is doing great with Monster Hunter 2 which will be the first million seller for the PSP. Looking at the future releases for PSP and PS3 in Japan not much are coming out in the next few months. The next big release for PSP looks like the FF game and for the PS3 Hot Shots Golf 5. I think a consistant 20K for PS3 and 30K for PSP would be great.

By the way Viper lately you've been spitting a lil too much venom it was on the 20Gb PS3 that got the price cut in Japan, and of course Sony knows that need more than Monster Hunter and Metal Gear to be on top.

Viper
03-09-2007, 06:03 PM
How does me informing him the system isn't $600.00 over there venomous? Beside that, they both are currently discounted.

60GB - $512.00
20GB - $427.00

I stand corrected Sir! I didn't know that. Still I just googled the PS3 price in Japan and it only stated the 20Gb model having a price cut. What's your source Viper?

Sephiroth_VII
03-09-2007, 06:41 PM
I think it has more to do with tax differences and stuff like that. Only the 20 GB got a price cut.

Viper
03-09-2007, 06:47 PM
Perhaps at launch but they're both down now unless the exchange rate has changed that much since Dec.

^You might be right, I can't say that I'm an expert.

It's just that I think we would have heard about a pricecut if it happened. After all, we're all internet addicts here.:queer:

In Japan, reailers have broad latitude in setting prices. There's no "price cut" per se in the way we think of it here, but the PS3 prices do fluctuate.

Garfunkel
03-10-2007, 01:52 AM
the 60gig unit has an open price in Japan, there is no official price for it.
