Wow..these guys are tough reviewers...Hmm...some of them do seem to be a bit on the low side though. I mean-God of War 2 is probably the most technically impressive titles that's released for it along with others like Okami/MGS/FF...To give it a mere 7 is certainly a kick in the balls.

Games are reviewed completely on gameplay, their scores aren't broken down into subcatagories like Graphics etc...

but then they don't give a shit about graphics. Originality plays a big part too, Gran Turismo is one of just 5 games in their 1year history to get a 10/10, but they gave GT4 a 7/10! They absolutely slated PS2's launch too, Tekken Tag (6/10), RRV (5/10), Fantavision got an 8 though ;)

They have the exact same failure's as other games publications, including biased reviews and not researching information properly.

7/10 is a good score especially coming from EDGE. I haven't plaeyed either of the God of War games, but from that score I would guess that the sequel didn't do much more than the original game. If the game is the same as GoW1 but with a bit more polish then EDGE aren't going to give it a 9.

I do disagree with their F1 review though. 4 is way too low it should have been atleast a 6 or 7.

My point is, EDGE is one of the less biased game magazines around my parts, because most other magazines here are console specific (with the exception of PLAY, EDGE and some others)

Also, I expected a lot of those reviews except for God of War II only getting a 7. That's just mindblowing -- what did they give Resistance & Gears of War? Edge is notoriously tough on their reviews so it's not that big of a deal, but when you keep grading AAA titles so low like that, you're also going to look very snobby and flat-out ridiculous much like how Gamespot is viewed by some. No reason why those MGS's shouldn't have 10/10s on there too :-p

meh... cut the biased stuff people, really, its tiring, we all know GOW2 deserves much better than an 7, much much better so let them have their opinion, GOW2 will sell like crazy, its not edge that would change any body's mind. Just like a lot of people bought MS even when Sites like 1up and GS gave it an 7... ich.... For me GOW2 will be one great game and a contender to GOTY( other will be LBP :hugegrin: I SMELL IT!!!) and more, so don't mind what they said, the videos show to me that the game will be a AAAA quality. yeh it sounds odd but think about it. if a sequel came out on the PS3 to a PS2 game that was superior in every way and they gave it a 10 immediately then from that point on every game of that quality would have to get a 10

These guys aren't tough either. Many of the games that receive ten don't deserve then either. They're just different. Their opinion isn't over anyone else nor are they as influential as Siskel & Ebert and thats coming from one that hardly watches Hollywood films.

A fair reviewer would give Final Fantasy VII a 10/10. Why? The game sold 2.8 million copies in North America which is greater than Madden 2000 or 2001 yet for every one FFVII title available there are like fifty Madden counterparts on the shelf. Same case for Madden on PS2. And FFVII is mighty expensive even the greatest hits edition. O_O In contrast five years from now, I'll probably pick up Halo for a dollar at some garage sale.

Titles that gamers throw in four months doesn't deserve a ten. Technical quality should only make up 8/10 of the score at most.

If a games is average then EDGE will give it 5/10. Most other reviewers seem to give average games around 7/10 which is why people think that is a bad score, but if EDGE give a 7/10 then it means the games is really good, but there were a few things they didn't like.
If they had given it an 8 or 9 then that means they think it's almost perfect, but obviously they felt it has a few flaws or doesn't do enough to justify that score.

I see. That definitely makes game scores tricky if you don't have the score-guide to go with it. A lot of americans think in terms of school grades. 100% is perfect, 90% is damn good 80% is still above average, really good, 70% is average and any less than 60% is just a matter of how bad you failed.
