The latest issue of PSM (April 2007) has a nice 10-page preview (and a featured cover ) on Ninja Gaiden Sigma with their own hands on experience with the game. I just thought I'd point out some things :

* Unspecified amount of original content for Sigma
* EVERYTHING was redone for Sigma: backgrounds, enemies, characters, animations, textures, etc.
* Game will make use of the SIXAXIS in one way by helping to power up Ninpo magic while casting it
* Sigma will be 19 Chapters long, 3 more Chapters than the previous 2 versions
* A lot of the new stuff is when you are going to be playing as Rachel
* Will run at a constant 60 FPS with full self-shadowing and in 720p
* 3 ways to play - off the disk, off a partial install, or off a full install (for those who plan to play for long periods and don't want to worry about loads times. They wanted to give the gamer a choice on the matter)
* New difficulty level above the previous ones
* Still talking to Sony about what the possibilites are for downloadable content
* Karma ranking system/online leaderboards will be intact
* Karma ranking/leaderboards will be improved upon by letting you view the results for a player's run through for specific chapters and how many times they died, etc.

Rachel Specific

* Features own integrated story missions and own mission mode levels
* Anything but a new skin for Hayabusa
* Completely separate arsenal of moves and all new animations
* Will have a different 'feel' from Hayabusa and will require a different way of thinking to play as compared to her counterpart
* Will still absorb essence and such as Hayabusa

* New difficulty level above the previous ones :wtf:

Already a must buy title on my list...
The best action game fighting engine released on any console game IMO.
The improved visuals is enough for me and the new content and Rachel playability is just icing on the cake.

This should be a must buy title for any action game fan.

60fps in 720p and different installation preferences? Couple this with talks of daily graphical updates and I have to say that Tecmo is definitely taking advantage of the entire PS3.

^ It's a young ambitious producer so there's a lot to prove...
I'm personally glad that Itagaki did not work directly on the title, it's good to get some fresh blood into the series...

Oh man!!! This game is making me drool.

I wonder how they are gonna make their new difficulty harder than Master Ninja?

Anyways, just imagining this game at 720p in all of its graphical glory just puts a smile on my face. :)

I wonder how they've tweaked Ryu's moves since black?

+rep to you mario25. ;)

this is the first game I see on PS3 (or any console for that matter) that offers a full install option. that is good news. I downloaded every movie trailer, Res. and Genji portion saves and every game demo from PSN along with a bunch of pics and tracks to my 60G HDD and I still have more than half of the space left.

of course, you would still have to have the game disk in the machine for copyright safety, but what the heck.

great seeing this game getting along well. now since some are getting hands on experience, that makes me think the next public showing for this game will have a playable demo. in fact, I think we may see a demo on PSN before E3. :)

Great find! I'm most excited about the fact that PSM had a hands-on...Looks like we'll get this baby sooner than later. I hope the new developer makes good use of the Sixaxis-not too sure how much you can do with it in a hardcore action game like this though, but I'm sure someone has a great imagination out there. +rep Mario25 well deserved;)

Those install options are exactly what I was expecting: no install for those who don't want to waste any HDD room, partial install for those who just want to start the game quickly and load the menus and whatnot faster than without installing anything, and full install for those who never want to wait and have the necessary room for it. I will most likely go with the partial install option, and I hope many more games follow suit with at least these three install options.

After this, I'm expecting games that will require a partial install simply because streaming from the HDD is faster than doing it from the optical drive. Games like GTAIV or Burnout 5 that are set in an open world need to access the game disc all the time to stream game assets, music and whatnot. By partially installing the content that requires more random accesses to it (the vehicles, pedestrians and some buildings in GTAIV, for instance) the developers could dedicate the optical drive to streaming environments, music and voice acting entirely. This way, they would be taking full advantage of PS3's architecture to create more detailed worlds.

Last but not least, partial or full installs make the Blu-ray drive to be in downtime, which is good in the long term as it prevents it from wearing out sooner. The HDD always has to be on and spinning, so just use it.

Wow...thanks!!...reps are hard to get around hereTell me about it :look:

did previous NG games have you change the costume as a bonus? if so, then it is a given. if not, they may add new costumes, especially to a female character. this is Team Ninja we're talking about. they don't get oogly on girls more than that.:jacko:

I've purchased NG the original on the Box so story wise its quite similar but the features alone want to make me pick up this title. All the features except the difficulty. Those hurricane packs expansions were ridiculously difficult so no need to kill me with greater difficulty. ;)

Also full installation sounds interesting as well. If this is the trend in future gaming, I may end up picking up a 500GB or a 1TB HDD for the PS3 in the near future. In the future games may be 25-50GB and will probably be typical for RPGs so its upgrading the capacity.

true. and for those whom are in a similar situation, they might give this game a rental or get it when it becomes cheap. as for the rest of us, there is little reason not to get this game. for me, NG and Dante will be partying in my room as soon as they take one step on the streets.

but why would you want to save every game on your HDD? I would have the 2 or 3 games I am currently playing extensively. after I complete them, I could replace them with other games. I might replay certain parts of my finished games on a latter occasion, but for that, I could wait a few seconds for the loadings as I will not experience much of them in my brief reminiscent brush down memory lane.

PS. I just watched The Illusionist. that is why I use such language. :thumbr:

* There are many new animations for the PS3 version
* The game looks better than the screnshots
* By shaking the Sixaxis around you can power up your Ninpo magic
* Everyone is redone for the PS3 version, from the enemies, to the backgrounds, the textures, and the animations

I have a link for OPM scans. May I post it?
