okay its time to set the records straight here. many times certain members - including myself and MILR - have thought that perhaps Sony or people associated with Sony, were watching forums like this. other individuals called us out on it.

if you look at Sony's philosophy, you will realise that that is exactly what they have been doing and intend to do a lot more of. we are no longer just a mouth for the gaming world, but also a database of potential for Sony.

they've explained about the 3.0 philosophy and shown examples. all these examples have one thing in common, user created content... thats: USER CREATED CONTENT. LBP gives us the opportunity to create ideas and put them up for download, Singstar gives us the opportunity to create content and put them up for download, HOME gives us the opportunity to create an environment and share it with everyone.

so it follows that for Sony to totally fulfil there philosophy they have to start listening and include ideas put forward by ourselves. its odd that we spoke of those monorails (although i thought they were bridges), its also odd that the very question i was asking about Afrika was aired by another site and actually put forward to Harrison. i'm not taking credit for this because it stands to reason that other sites would have had the same ideas and so they may have listened to those site forums instead. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW

WE ARE 3.0 (YOU)

I like the idea that Sony is listening to the fans with actual good ideas. We may not all be cut out for Vector shading and bump mapping in Maya or whatever, but most, if not all of us, are still very imaginative and constantly thinking about this industry we're so totally immersed in. And to do it in a way that we don't feel patronized or coddled is also a big plus in my book. Good job, Sony.

its important for Sony to listen to their consumers in this new 3.0 era, because they have to demonstrate it in action. you could say that HOME, LBP or Singstar are actually real user created content, but its not a far stretch to see that it could also encompass user imput textwise. just think:

texting is creative, hows that for visionary. Sony have said that hey want to create a community and what better way

Actually I'm 19...as of today. Happy Birthday me. I agree that listening to consumers is key this gen. We all know what we want from games, and its important for devs and companies to address those needs in order to boost sales and make the best of this next-gen!

Happy Birthday fella.

ye, it is important for companies to listen to their consumers, but that has always been the case. what we are seeing here is a direct link from us to them with a product at the end of it. we may complain about a car being badly designed but what happens is that we choose another design and the company responsible for the car we didn't like would maybe change it accordingly a year or so later. with Sony's philosophy, what they are saying is that 'we will listen and respond immediately. if thousands of people ask for a bus to be included in motorstorm, they will get one, if people want safaris in HOME, then they will get them, if they want murder mysteries in HOME... and so on. this is model 3.0 and that's an open invitation to the devs and us to embrace it... and embrace it we should

edit: i went a bit Yoda at the end lol

this is actually quite interesting. to me this topic, although slightly ahead of itself, is the topic that Sony want us to embrace. its clear to me that Sony have managed to enthuse devs with this new philosophy, but we the consumer are somewhat uninspired by it... there is absolutely no reason why the layman (like myself) cannot be part of that development process and by that i mean demand its implementation in all games, which consequently means that even third party devs will eventually have to come on board. if Sony can't get the message through to us the consumer then games like LBP, Singstar and HOME will remain, at least for a long time to come, ,mainly a first party imperative. remember representatives of Sony WILL be checking forums for responses to their philosophy. on the up side, it could mean that they will realise that some have not yet seen the potential of this 3.0 and will perhaps give us more info on games that use it.

I'm an older *ahem* gentleman, so I'm hoping I can be in the Beta of Home on the tail end of their Demographics.
