What's your name in Zelda?

When you play Zelda and you choose your name when creating a save file, do you use your own name or do you type in Link?

I generally use Link, I mean it seems stupid when in the game the people around Hyrule call Link Ryan...

I hate it when people rename their characters. It doesn't matter if the name is only applied to the save file, telling which player it is, but usually the name gets slapped onto the actual character. I feel that the game should be about Link and not Chickenhumper or Big Joe. However, I also have to distinguish my file from that of other players, so I had to name myself IceMan, my long-time nickname.

for my 2nd save file i used Prince though but only to tell the diference. Link sounds better.

I use Nigel. I stopped using link quite a while ago. I see nothing wrong with changing character names. The one time I played FF7, I changed every characters name.

If its in the case like Zelda then I would use Onigoth. But for games like Final Fantasy I keep the name for the first time just in case I use a strategy guide to know who the hell they're talking about. But I prefer if we can change names in the very start. Changing someones name far into the game while you knew his other name the whole time just kinda messes up the story just a bit.

on The legend of Zelda:OoT i enjoy using the name Zelda.
So when you talk to princess Zelda and you tell her your name she says something to the effect of "Zelda, that name sounds familiar". I just found that to be quite funny.

My Thoughts exactly.well said,Holy Paladin.I Always use Link.it's much cooler to play with the real name and to experience the game playing the "ROLE" of Link,and not John,or Tom,or Sammy,or any other name.

In a racing game,sports game,i wouldn't mind using my name in the game.in fact it's much cooler.But RPG,and Adv games,i think it's much better to play with the character's original name.

It would be hillarious if i played using "Ganondorf",though.

I think in RPG's in a developer is trying to tell a story then you shouldn't be able to change the name of the character. Like in the Wind Waker, if I use my own name or a nickname of some sort, I don't feel like I'm in that world and that story, because I don't want to try and be myself, I want to live as that character. Also, I don't think you can have a cooler name then some of those names they come up with in these rpg's. Damn boring names.
