Installing YDL on PS3

I just tried installing Yellow dog Linux 5.0 on my PS3, i keep getten a black screen once it gets to clean-up or something, afterwards it restarts the PS3 i guess. And then you get a black screen. All i can do there is eject the DVD or take it back in. Nothing i see on screen. Something wrong with my tv set? That it can't read that resolution or something?

I tried Garfunkel , i'll try it with my other tv once i get it.

One thing i also noticed is that the F@H program needs to be reinstalled, probably with the formatting of the PS3. So in case anyone wants to try out YDL be sure to have the other OS already activated so you won't loose anything on your HD.

Can't you just change the PS3 name back to what it was previously, and then it'll carry on counting the score on that name?

Nope doesn't do anything. Though it didn't wanted to eject the DVD at this time either.

What resolution screen do you have fantasy?

For the moment it's just a SD tv with AV connection.

hmm... AFAIK YDL on ps3 does have a history of not working well with 480i or P, i think it really requires 720P or higher. I'm not sure of any fixes for this.

Garfunkel is right, by default the Linux installation requires a HDTV to be connected to the PS3 via HDMI or component. But there's an option for installing it under low resolution text mode via composite cables. Instead of running "install" you run "installtext" . If you have already tried this than I'm not sure if there are any other alternatives.

1080p Sony bravia 40" like i said. Couldn't wait for the Samsung Nameless posted last week. Because it's not even announcd for Europe yet.
It just fits in the closet.

Ok on my 1080p with HDMI cable i can see the menu etc. Here's a pic of my television with motorstorm it's blurry because the motion. And a Wii on the bottom just to give you an idea how big it is ;)

I just got it installed, though i don't know where the configuration is to get the wireless network settings working. Or is it only possible over wired network?

hmm, i'm not shore, i've never used YDL personally, especially on the ps3. You might like to ask around on their forums.

Terrasoft has stated that wireless on PS3 is not currently supported but they are working on it. It's one of the reasons I haven't installed it yet. Your TV looks great by the way, is it an XBR2?
