Let's say I want to put Linux (particularly Red Hat) on my other computer. We will assume that this is for no logical reason at all, other than I just want to do it.

Now, let's assume that I don't know where to start, and even if I did, I wouldn't know where to go from there. What do I do?

And the first person to say 'when you assume, you make an ass out of you and me' gets mega/perma/ip/hellbanned.

You would be assuming correct.

I haven't the slightest clue as to what I'm talking about.
