TMNT for GBA 8.5 -IGN

TMNT for the Game Boy Advance is one hell of a gaming surprise, coming out at what's pretty much assumed to be the tail end of the handheld's lifespan. It's an awesome throwback to old-school game design, but with tons of flair and technique to jazz up the experience into a contemporary piece. It's easily one of the best brawling games I've played in years, and had the designers managed full-fledged multiplayer support I think we could have seen the best Turtles ever. It's damn near close, though. Don't miss it.

looks like fun.

EDIT: i misspelled surprise in the thread title. CRAP.

Like alot of DS games this one (TMNT) pushes decent 3D but lacks ANY gameplay worth noting, its funny how sticking to what is easy as in side scrolling beat um ups can make a game fun.
Why dont they add the 3D to the old school design?
Ah well atleast the GBA games work fine on the ds.

^Yeh just play the GBA game on your DS and pretend.

If you print out a map or something and stick it to the other screen you can use your imaginaaaation and itll be an awesome DS game!

they should have made it like the TMNT game on NES (recently released on Wii VC). a mix of top down and side scrolling challenges made it a game to remember. why not try to recreate that design rather than just a side scrolling beat 'em up.

not saying that those kinds of games are bad because i enjoyed TMNT: Turtles in time on the SNES. but i enjoyed the challenge of the NES game much more.

Ooh, that sounds good.
Multiplayer definitely would have made it more appealing, though.

I haven't played GB multiplayer since Pokemon Blue/Red. I played Warlocked multiplayer once and while it was amazing and should be made into a DS game with online play, it's usually a hassle. :)

^ I've done a lot of multiplayer on GBA. And not just Pokemon (although, yes, much trading and battling was done on Ruby/Sapphire). I've put the most multiplayer GBA time into Mario Kart Super Circuit and Shining Soul II.. and that was still with link cables. Having the wireless adapter would have made it more enjoyable.

Somebody else besides myself like Shining Soul II?!

I loved it~! My little sister, my ex, and I played through it all together. Very, very fun... until the stupid cord comes loose and you lose your progress.

I may get this at some point. I just have to get through the other 8 GBA games that I haven't played yet (it's down from 15, but there is still much work to be done)
