I am able to get hold of a cheap Monster PS2 component cable which i would like to use with a PS3 (buying later on in the year).

Can anyone confirm for 100% if the PS2 Monster cable will also work perfectly with the PS3 ?

I am under the impression that both PS2 & PS3 use the same multi IO port so the cable should be compatible but need to be sure. I would prefer to use the much more expensive Monster cable over the Sony one as i feel it will give better picture on my 36" CRT. No HDMI LCD/Plasma TV for me for at least another year or two as I don't think the technology is there yet to justify replacing my beautiful flatscreen CRT. Thanks

I tried to use a PS2 multi-port to RGB-SCART on my PS3 and it worked fine.
It's not the same cable you mention, but the PS2 multi-port worked.

well yes it should still work fine. If you can find a component SCART :S if they exists lol im fuzzy on that. and it says in my ps3 'quick reference" boolet that i got with my ps3 that ps2 cables work fine. AV and the component ones. and for futher confirmation my friend uses his ps3 with a ps2 component cable.

Yeah, they work just fine, I'm 100% sure.

EDIT: BlackSin, I don't think they do. SCART in composite is made for each other.

Well it seems all unanimous that the cable will work the PS3 also so i will go ahead & place my order.

BTW here is my TV that i'm reluctant to let go off.

Its got components inputs so i will hold onto it a little longer till they manage to get LCD's picture quality good as CRT. I'm fighting hard against the urge to jump on the LCD bandwagon as my CRT will only do 576p/480p at best. Thanks all.

Yes it works 100%, that is what I am currently using and have been since I bought the system in December 2006. I don't have an HDMI port so this was the only way to go.
