In spite of one evening of launching missed, the sales of the PS3 of Sony start on the hats of wheels: 600 000 consoles sold in two days in Europe.

One should not be mistaken there, only the event organized for its exit did not meet awaited success. The sales of Playsation 3 build a pretty paperboard according to figures' advanced by Fujio Nishida, President de Sony Europe. These are 600 000 consoles which would have found taking in the two days following its exit on March 23, 2007.

In France, the figure confirmed by George Fornay, president de Sony Computer Entertainment France and vice-president of SCE Europe, rises to 78 000 PS3 over same the two days period. France positions behind England and its 173 000 units, but precedes Spain and Germany respectively third and fourth (the figures are not yet known). It east 24 % of better than the PS2 which had made "only" 63 000 sales in two days. Always according to George Fornay, the course of the 100 000 should be reached the next weekend.

For Sony, it would be largest success all consoles confused in France. Always according to the manufacturer Playstation 3 and its 78 000 units do better than Wii and Xbox, with respectively 75 000 and 49 000 consoles run out in two days. The shortage is not yet there, but at this rate/rhythm, the console is very quickly likely to be in out-of-stock condition in the majority of the stores.

600 €, not too many games, no killer (arguably) apps yet, no pre-Xmas launch, far more competition than the other systems had at launch... and it still manages to break so many records.

PS3 am doom3d, right? :dur:

Sony still has some work to do in the US & JP, but this is great news from a market share perspective. It will be interesting to see the final global numbers for March...

Do any one have the picture of the French guy standing all alone in the waiting line?

We should put it in a sticky and proclaim him to be the worlds biggest and richest fanboy; buying so many consoles by him self just to support poor yet evil Sony.

Never understood why anyone would line up for the PS3 midnight launch when there was such a hefty supply and most people having work the day after... unless they called in sick.

Good news :)

How did the PS3 end up doing in Spain? Did it outsell the 360 yet?

Woot Go Sony. I think this would be an appropriate thread for the 360 boat....

Good news :)

How did the PS3 end up doing in Spain? Did it outsell the 360 yet?No idea, but I can tell you the PS3 itself, some accessory (probably sixaxis) and four or five games were all on the top spots of the greatest sellers list of a major retailer here yesterday.

I expect it to outsell the 360 this year though. I don't know how the 360 is doing here, but it's not particularly popular at all. The PS2 rules here, no doubt about it.

Their allocation in NA, and especially Canada, is a problem, in a major city like Toronto I still can't find one in a major mall like Scarborough Town Centre.

Secondly they need to get the games out, I know it's not easy but this needs to be a priority because the reason why people buy a console is because of the games and as good as Resistance and Motorstorm are, there needs to be more of these types of compelling games instead of more multiplatform ports that are late.

Well as I said in another thread, there's ~13 SCE WW games slated for this year:

Eye of Judgment
Formula One '06 (released)
Heavenly Sword
Hot Shots Golf
Lair
LittleBigPlanet (or early '08)
MLB '07
MotorStorm (released)
Ratchet and Clank Future - Tools of Destruction
SingStar
Uncharted - Drake's Fortune
Unknown Realms - Monster Kingdom
Warhawk

and with titles like KillZone and Afrika rumoured it doesn't look too bad.

Sony is showing good initial numbers in most of Europe in nearly everything I have seen. This is definetely a testament to the strength of their brand in the continent.

^^

Honestly I believe diehards and early adopters are just smart enough to realize who will have the best bang for the buck in the long run

It has some to do with brandname, but the brandname pretty much says the same thing I said in the above paragraph

In the end Sony brand is quality 9/10 times. Granted a lot of it is based on the PS brand its still says a lot when you can have that pricetag and still break sales records. Best part is that if this is the initial reaction...it only gets better from here because games will start hitting and the inevitable price drops...

I needed a place to use this so here it is. France breaking the record...visual status...

to add to that, they launched last, not in a buying season, and they are more expensive than any other option (concerning gaming) out there. not too shabby I'd say.

I like my PS3 ^^

Judging from my local shops, 2 out of 3 sold out (Germany, region around Stuttgart, not too many "cheap people" here^^), and the only one not selling out, was the tiny EB Games!

I think, it sold pretty well in Germany, keeping in mind, that my 3 local stores have Wiis in stock (since after XMas, never sold out yet).
