So I've got a 32" Samsung TV, 720p, and I'm using an HDMI lead obviously. Any tips on how to get Motorstorm looking like the trailers? They seem to have more hi-def lighting than what I'm seeing at the moment. So although Motorstorm is looking good on my TV its not quite like what you see in the trailers. Any ideas on settings, contrast, brightness, Sharpness, colour, and also colour tone. Colour Tone can be Cool 1, Cool 2, Normal, Warm 1 or Warm 2. In the trailers the sun looks like it is setting and it makes for great visuals.

Sounds like you need to calibrate your TV. Check out AVS forums, I am sure that somoene has calibrated your TV, or may offer some advice to you on what setting get the color temp in to "natural" range.

I would hope you aren't running your TV in torch mode, basically most all TV's come out of the box with contrast on 100% i.e. Torch Mode.

Nah, I've used THX for movies to help get a good picture but maybe I've gone off track with it since I last did that.

AVIA Works well

It's a DVD (maybe BD Soon), but its one of the more recommended calibration discs.

The only option you have is to adjust your TV configurations.
Also, the lighting conditions in the room can impact visuals, if you are getting any screen glare from sun light it can effect visuals. There's no PS3 setting you missed & HDMI is the way to go... I noticed that even 720P games look better on a 1080P display, so results can vary based on display.

Just been to AV Forums and copied some settings for another Samsung R series.

Mode: Movie
Contrast: 80
Brightness: 39
Sharpness: 46
Colour: 47
Colour Tone: Normal

It looks way better now! These settings seem ok to anyone else?

There is no "correct" setting, just go with what you think looks the best.

That contrast seems a bit high, but im used to calibrating plasma & RPCRT which can have burn in at high contrast levels. If it looks good to you then go with it :)

I'm gonna get the old THX from a movie out to see the difference me thinks. Most people on AV Forums have got contrast high. There's one with 100 contrast, which is pretty drastic if you ask me.

I have a Samsung 26" and I've been toying with the Dynamic settings, but the results weren't anything special anyway. I'll try those at home.

^^ Good point, time of day effects visuals significantly.
I think the best visuals are sunset or misty/cloudy conditions, the lighting is a little more realistic IMO.

With these new settings the dynamic lighting seems alot better. THX gives me a contrast at 80 also so I'm probably gonna stick with these settings. It really is beautiful now! My tv is doing the graphics alot more justice now I think.
