Burnout Dominator may have just been released on PSP and PS2, which is a great game in its own right, but our eyes are on Burnout 5, the series' debut on PS3. Little is currently known about the direction Criterion is taking the series, but in an exclusive chat with CVG, Criterion's director of design, Alex Ward, revealed some nuggets of new information.

When describing what direction Criterion is taking with Burnout 5, Ward explained, "How you use the controller is key, how you play the game online, how you use the HD Eye Toy and the 360 Vision Camera online is really important."
Little is currently known about the HD Eye Toy, but it looks like it'll make an appearance in some form in Burnout 5. At E3 in 2006 Sony began talking about the evolution of the motion-cam add-on, seemingly dubbed the 'HD Eye Toy', but little else has actually been discussed regarding the peripheral.

It has also appeared on a Sony online survey asking consumers about the kinds of peripherals they'd like to see alongside PS3 at some point in the future, but that's about it.

Not sure how an Eye Toy can be implemented into a racing game but....hey...more power to em.

Perhaps it takes advantage of PS3's facial recognition and keeps track of your head, altering your view (and possibly, slightly; your vehicle's movement) accordingly and optimally during those high-adreniline races where quick reflexes are the one deciding factor in whether you're inside of a sleek automobile or a flaming ball of metal (in which case you'll be the "cream filling" to its "Twinkie," get me?).....just a random idea....just throwing that out there. :thumbl:

It's hilarious because they are openly admitting that the first 'next gen' Burnout was not next gen at all.

Kind of like Ridge Racer... and a ton of other titles I can name off the top of my head.

But it was EA, EA definitely made them make the project, it was destined to make money anyways.

At least, Burnout Revenge on the 360 was useful for them to learn next gen development and get some experience, which I'm sure will pay off when B5 is released on both systems sometime soon... I hope.

since it supports Eyetoy and Vision/Gesture, I don't think it'll use any feature that the latter couldn't handle.

it would be cool if you could take pics of anything and use it as a decal on your car- even though the res may stand out. it would still be good for fun.

I hope the Eyetoy works well enough for me to flick people off and have it work with my driver. That'd be worth the money hands down.

Don't know if this is the new Eye Toy HD but it was one design or prototype with the game " Eye Of Judgment ".

so far, that is the one with EoJ. it may change a bit when it is released. they haven't elaborated on the new camera at all for a very long time. they may have different versions such as this one and another, high-end, one as their standard official 'Eye3'.

maybe we'll learn more in the future. till then, just keep using any USB webcam or your current Eyetoy.
