Thursday 29-Mar-2007 10:05 AM Samuli Syvähuoko's new studio Recoil Games begins work on action game for PS3, 360 and PC
Remedy Entertainment co-founder Samuli Syvähuoko has left the Max Payne and Alan Wake dev to form new studio Recoil Games, and it's first project out the door will be an action game based on a brand new intellectual property.

An announcement on Recoil Games states it's mission is to create action games "with the scope, feel and ensemble cast of disaster movies. This is a large untapped area of the industry and Recoil plans to lead the way with its innovative Cinegames design techniques."

It adds that these games "will feature huge stories, and require a large ensemble cast-often working together-to solve the many varied challenges, including internal human conflict, another area mostly overlooked in today's action games."

PC and the new wave of consoles are the platforms being targeted by the developer, Finland-based Recoil explaining that its first game will potentially release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Additional founding team members at Recoil include staffers formerly at the likes of Codemasters, Ubisoft, Guerrilla Games and Treyarch - and more Remedy chaps.

First details on Recoil's initial project will be released at some point this year. With ex Remedy staff involved, we're intrigued to see what will be unveiled.

Man, those soumi names give me the creeps. Not even I can pronounce them right^^

But, after having LOVED Max Payne 1/2 (though both were tooooo short and easy) I am looking forward on to what they have up their sleeves!

Max Payne 1 was a fabolous game, my god. Film noire and realistic looking action to the absolute max.

1 was awesome but 2 was a lot better. The type of kills you can get in the 2nd one cracked me up at times. Was so much fun just to throw a granade into a small room and watch stuff fly all over the place.

Seems like the studio has potential. I just hope they can make it, what with having to face rising development costs.

I so love that movie and really hope the 3'rd one won't be a straigh to video adaption.

How the first could flop at the cinemas is beyond me. :(
