I don't believe I've ever heard of this game lol, but anyways...

I have a feeling this is what cookie cutter games are going to look and be like for the next gen lol.

Let me guess..multiplatform?

*Sigh* ....

what if it weren't? did you not listen to the podcast? The differences in visuals between the two platforms at this point are minimal (until the devs learn how to better exploit the 2 system's stregnths)

Who cares if it's multiplat, it looks pretty balls lol.

I'm gonna stay going on a limb and labeling this as one of the first of many, many cookie cutter games.

Screens like this one are hardly impressive (I think FEAR looks better than that):

http://videogamerx.gamedonga.co.kr/gamenews/usernews/bonobono/a002/786/01.jpg

But then screens like

http://videogamerx.gamedonga.co.kr/gamenews/usernews/bonobono/a002/786/05.jpg

and

http://videogamerx.gamedonga.co.kr/gamenews/usernews/bonobono/a002/786/06.jpg

look really good -- the lighting and refraction going on in those little glass things in that second picture look very cool.

One to look out for but I think this one also has a very high risk of being too generic.

Ya that number 6 image looks very good. But other than that, it's all pretty iffy. I guess it could get better later on, but the package as a whole (of what we can see lol) looks pretty weak to me.

Definitely seeming to fall on the generic side, I agree.

*Sigh* ....
since when has Grovestreet ever posted an exclusive in a PS section? ;p

and some of you are really jumpy about the word 'multiplatform' like its some kind of digital herpes or something. Burnout, all Sports, PoP, and other huge games are wonderful on all consoles and PC.

curryking1

Ya, honestly, let the multiplatform word die a little bit, it's too much sometimes.

I don't know if I've forgotten the name of this game of if I haven't heard of it yet, but the pics look good.

We're going to be playing Space Marines with mystical powers well into 2010.

..Someone needs to send developers a memo. NO MORE SPACE MARINES!!!

Ya! And more spikey haired blonde kids with giant swords! :D

Pluto

Actually, seeing more of those archetype characters wouldn't be a bad thing, because we're currently seeing an RPG drought for the Playstation 3.

Bring on the RPG's, please.

curryking1

I really wasn't joking, and even if we didn't have an RPG drought, I wouldn't be joking either!!! :D

Seriously.

It's sad that developers are shifting toward the FPS genre. Are American developers incapable of making a good RPG game, or a game of any other genre for that matter..?

I dunno, the American devs are made to make what the publishers think will sell. Japanese devs and publishers are lucky that there are lots of RPG fans not only in Japan, but around the world. Catering to Japan's RPG love is catering to a worldwide fanbase, not that FPS' themselves don't have a large fanbase.

RPGs, JRPGs at least, have lots of ties into Japanese culture and such, and moral battles represented as flashy fire3 and lighting2 effects.

But they make it because there's a market for it, and because that stuff sells to Japanese people and thankfully lots of us who aren't in Japan.

And American + European devs make better FPS games and, in general, action games or tactical realism games and they are good with high octane explosive games(like Burnout, or Rainbow Six, or Halo, or GTA, or Ratchet and Clank, or Jak and Daxter, or Banjo, or Conker, or Goldeneye or SOCOM or so many more or etc etc etc), so it goes both ways lol. In general, they just got different strengths. I don't really complain when Romance of the Billion Kingdoms is made or anything, the only RPGs I actually play mainly come from Square or Level 5 or something. There's a ton of RPGs I just totally ignore, but I have no problem with them being there.

I don't see it as a problem really, there's always great games coming out for all the genres all the time, so I just get whatever I'll like lol.

---

If you really think hard about it, all you have to do to go from American/Euro game dev generalizing strengths to the Japanese side, you take gun and replace it with sword, and take bald and put hair on it, and take gruff face and put hot kid there, science fiction focus to magic and ethereal focus, and presto! You went from West to East.

It's a very crude generalization and there is more contrast than that of course, but the idea I'm trying to put across is that there are tons of RPGs made and tons of action games made, it's all the same really. I have no problem with more games being made, I'll just get the stuff I want to get ya know? :D

P.S. There are going to be like a gajillion action games made 2moro, I'll pick up Halo 3 and GTA IV and MGS4 and whatever sleeper hit comes if one such does come. There's a ton of RPGs coming out too but I'm only going to pick up FF XIII, FF VS XIII, WKS, and maybe another sleeper hit if one appears.

no. one Prey for X2 is enough. ;p

about FPS becoming more abundant; I don't see it as a shift as much as it is a 'norm'. in NA on PC, FPS are the biggest genre. consoles also have a lage number of FPS games. since more PC devs are jumping on consoles and new studios are formed, it is only natural to expect the biggest kind of games to be show up more on consoles.

as for bald space marines, you can't help it. it is the new fad that will stick with us a while. as soon as something works (GeoW) expect many clones to hit everywhere. such is the nature of the industry. heck, look at this smiley: :matrix:

guess what is it called. lol

I only see PC whenever I look up the game.

well, that is a military move so it shouldn't be surprising. I saw a 4 man team of soldiers walking in an urban pose at war on the news. one was covering their backs. they looks exactly like a MGS3 squad moving. MGS's real world army references are very impressive. Kojima said we will be knocked down my MGS4's. :)

Ya I remember they did that in the cutscene at the beginning of the Eva - Snake jungle sneaking part. One of my favourite cutscenes because of 1) the music was wicked and so was the colouration and style and 2) because the way they communicated and moved together was soo damn convincing.

That back to the wall thing was funny though lol because he did it exactly like the vintage Snake, no weapon equipped, just back to wall, hands at the sides, just standing there, back laid against the wall lol.

I'm gonna bet the animation in MGS4 is gonna be top notch, so good that it's gonna make games that didn't invest in animation cry a little inside.

Im a fan of the shooter genre and overall action as well, but so many redundant titles is starting to burden the genre itself. Reminds me of mass amount of fighters in the early 90s.

the gameplay and the leveldesign is just so damn lackluster. i mean the characters are animated like puppets, the levels are as small as in the splinter cell series - you have to remember itīs a shooter - and full of repetitive invetory, the music is poorly composed (a lame rock theme that sounds like if it was made in sum music maker software) and the run and gun fights with mega hella stupid npcs, which were maybe quite thrilling when max payne 1 was released.

sorry, but imo this game is pure crap.

So is there anything that confirms this title is going to any other platform than the PC?
