More evidence has reared its blobby baldy singing face this afternoon supporting rumours that LocoRoco is on its way to PS3.
The signs all seem to point in the right direction, despite Sony adopting the usual "can't comment on rumour and speculation" standpoint.
You see, first there was game creator Tsutomu Kouno, who dropped all sorts of hints at the recent Game Developer Conference about a PS3 outing - promising it wouldn't "betray" fans expectations after skirting around whether it would use Sixaxis tilt controls.
Then you should take into account the advert in the recent Edge magazine (helpfully Internetted by Kotaku), which blatantly suggests we'll be seeing the game on the new console.
And last but not least is supposed leaked information from PS3 Fanboy, which claims the Sony Trade Marketing extranet actually lists LocoRoco for PS3, with a release date of 23rd June.
Which all leaves us rather confident that something is in the pipeline.
LocoRoco is a roly-puzzle musical that was released last summer for PSP. It tasks you with guiding blobs of singing stuff around a level by titling the handheld, presenting all sorts of conundrums at every turn.
We found it to be an absolutely essential title - a glorious example independent thinking and charm. Unlike that sentence, which was me borrowing what Tom and Kristan said. You can find our LocoRoco review elsewhere on the site.

The question is: how could LocoRoco possibly benefit from PS3's power? Physics is my guess, but we'll see.

1080p, 60fps, motion sensing control, online ranking, maybe multiplayer...

Also, the creator said that everything will be physics based, just like LBP.

Loco Roco in 3D (or pseudo-2D) with colorful backdrops and an extremely interactive world is my guess.

1080p for a game that I'd expect to be 2D is a given... unless it becomes a 3D game =-o

60 fps is a given considering the original one runs at 60 fps :-p

A level editor would be awesome with online features like LBP.

I imagine that LocoRoco 3D would be about as good as Worms 3D...

Seriously guys, it's inherently a 2D game, I just can't imagine it working otherwise.

I can see this being really awesome on PS3, and I hope the music's great, but I hope they get it out there soon because once LBP comes out Sony would have a really hard time pushing this one too.

Naw, i think 3d would serve the game much better, much like LBP...it should become a 3d game but maintain its 2D scrolling. I want blops with gak like texture damnit!! Gak i say!

keep it 2D. for Christ's sake don't have to go fudging everything up because it's not on a 3D map.

2 1/2D is the new 2D, on LBP it's magic :)

Yeah, the half-assed way LBP uses 3D would work perfectly, as long as they don't go for full 3D, I'm all for it.

well locoroco 3d would suck
but not LBP kind 3d
i mean LBP mentally is 2D...
although technically it is 3d.

Yeah, the only thing PSM3 have on a LocoRoco sequel is the final slide from Kouno's GDC presentation. Guess what guys, next gen LocoRoco's are fluffy! Their speculation is that the game will be velcro based.

LoCoRoCo velcro based is a good idea, BTW.

not every game has to use a lot of PS3's power. there will be simple games and PSN is another channel for games that can be sold for cheaper (since little to no publishing fees are payed).

LocoRoco would be fine being exactly as it is on PSP. of course, I expect them to refurbish it here and there to make that extra 'umph', but I don't expect much.

in any case, the game will be a great addition to the PSN library.
