^ exactly, wait for judgement until you see it running on your own PS3. I am sure they are more than capable of getting things framelocked.
especially since they have 3-4 months to get everything running smoothly.

Motion blur, we have a special effort blur but not a general one. So things like bazooka views are motioned blurred but not normal guys fighting. Simply run out of time on that one unfortunately.
is it possible u willl add a general motion blur effect in the final release?
..i think the game would benefit from that, just like little big planet does....

Seems that the latest issue of Famitsu reports a possibly postponed Heavenly Sword in Japan. At first there was a "Somewhere in 2007" releasedate, and now they have taken that away and say nothing about a release anymore. I don't know if it's Sony or Famitsu itself that supplies the dates, but it could mean a 2008 release.
Which I don't believe personally, since all the NT guys have been suggesting that they are finishing up the game around now for release in H2 2007.
Nameless

^ It could be the localization process being delayed for Japan...
I'm not sure if they will actually attempt to do other languages or just use subtitles for the dialog. If the overall game is delayed till 2008 there's a major problem/bug with the software driving the delay...

i had no idea that the clock had been taken out of HS, but anyway, it seem as if it may be there if you want it. this is a dev called Dave (inspired) answering someone who wants it back:
Jeez, we can't win! Were you guys not moaning a while back about the 'life clock' and how it would force you to play through fast and not appreciate things!?
(not that you understood how it was intended to work anyway)
Guess you'll just have to play on 'hard'.
and this by Ninja tam:
Lifeclock mode and rumble are nice ideas. We'll take them into consideration if and when we have downloadable content!

^I think its funny when people ask the internet to make up it's mind, as if we were one mind-- a sort of capricious borg.
And anyway, people should have waited until the finished product, before they complained of a new gameplay mechanic.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has released a "Making Of" trailer for Heavenly Sword, showcasing this PS3 game scheduled for this September. Heavenly Sword tells the story of Nariko, a clan leader’s daughter on a vengeance quest against an invading King and his army. The Heavenly Sword Nariko wields once belonged to a powerful deity and it slowly but inevitably drains your life-force. Don't forget to check the brand new fact sheet.

HEAVENLY SWORD NEWS
Three Speech June 28, 2007 @ 5:58 pm
Three Speech was at the Mayfair hotel in London earlier this week to witness the unveiling of the PS3’s biggest post-release title, Heavenly Sword, expected this September. From what we’ve seen and played, it’s going to be an epic next-gen fantasy romp, involving a gorgeous, flame-haired warrior princess, a whole heap of medieval violence and hoardes of monsters to slice and dice your way through.
On hand to shoot the breeze at the swanky event was top-ranking CGI actor Andy Serkis - better known as Gollum and King Kong. He’s in the game as the brilliant evil king, and also directed the game’s other actors in its many beautiful, cinematic cut-scenes.
Andy revealed how he came to work on the game through the unlikeliest of situations and explained how motion capture has given Heavenly Sword its hyper-realistic look and feel. We also spoke to developers Ninja Theory in some detail about the game’s genesis, its stunning graphic realisation and next-gen combat system - and how the game was in development just waiting for the PS3 to make it all possible.
Then we had a natter with Mercury-award winning musician Nitin Sawhney, who wrote the soundtrack. He explained just why he need a whole philharmonic orchestra and half the world’s ethnic musicians to capture the essence of Heavenly Sword through music.
Oh, and we also managed to grab some time with the gorgeous girls whose faces and figures were mapped out and motion captured to be the game’s firey lead Nariko and her in-game companion Kai. All we’ll say about that is, ‘grrrr’.
Check back in shortly to see our video interviews.
Anxiously waiting for the vids now

Well, it can also mean land/world/kingdom as in "makai" (demon world) or "tenkai" (heaven world). It can also refer to a count of occurrence or a floor count in a building "ikkai", "nikai", "sankai"...
Let's see... there's also the oars/paddles in a boat, solutions to equations, buying or purchasing things, mysteries... Can be used as a prefix to imply magnitude "kaijuu" (great beast).
There are probably some dozen more I'm leaving out, all different kanji.

On a serious note,
I smell this game to be a MGS of action adventure games. What I mean to say is that it has got character development written all over it. Exactly how Kojima likes to convey his games filled with intriguing personas, good or bad. A movie-esque feeling in a videogame. Ahh, I'm so glad more n more developers are catching this. And super glad that its happening on my favorite console

Welcome to Ninja Theory!
For the last couple of years we’ve been working flat out on Heavenly Sword, the upcoming PS3-exclusive title in development here at Ninja Theory. You may well have seen some of the press coverage of our game at last year’s E3 and Tokyo Game Show in which Heavenly Sword was well received. Since then, the game is getting closer and closer to being finished and has been getting better and better with each day!
My name’s Mat Hart; I’m credited as the head of production on Heavenly Sword here at Ninja Theory but most people simply call me the producer.
The folks here at IGN have given us the chance to share with you the latest news and behind-the-scenes information on the game over the next few weeks and months. Basically, for as long as we want to - and certainly while we put the finishing touches to the game and until its release.
Incidentally, this blog will be a collaborative effort by the whole team, so you’ll get to hear a little from everyone here at Ninja Theory. We’ll also try and keep you up to date with other stuff happening in our lives outside of work to give you that insight into what makes a games developer tick.
First though, I’ll bring you up to speed with the background to the game and where we’re currently at right now.
Heavenly Sword follows the story of our heroine, a young woman called Nariko. Nariko was born into a clan who had been guarding the Heavenly Sword for generations. Legends told of how a son of the tribe would be born to reclaim the sword and lead the land to greatness once more. But, when the time long fortold arrived, the child that was born was female: Nariko.
By breaking the legend, she is seen as a curse on the clan and so, when King Bohan invades, plundering the land and its people, she is the one that many hold to blame.
Finally, in a moment of desperation, she decides to take charge and use the Heavenly Sword to destroy King Bohan and his army. But, as the Heavenly Sword was meant only for a god, any mortal that wields it dies within days as the sword devours their strength.
Our game begins with Nariko dying on the battlefield holding the Heavenly Sword. At her moment of death, she gets a chance to relive the days leading up to her demise. You get to play these moments in a bid to reach a higher understanding of your life.
Heavenly Sword is presented as a series of chapters in the life of Nariko, each of which is set in a large level. The story drives the gameplay and so whilst progression is relatively linear, the gameplay isn’t. There are multiple ways to defeat each encounter as we have the most diverse combat engine to be found in an adventure game - not to mention the use of props and enemy weapons. So, it's up to the player to decide how they wish to fight.
The game has been designed to look and feel like - and match the pace of - an action movie. That means you're free to traverse the environments using a combination of combat, cinematics, props and action-sequences but the game is fundamentally narrative-driven. The events in the story are what really drive your mission and progress.
In play, your main weapon is the Heavenly Sword itself. It comes in three stances which you can switch between on the fly to create your own combos and fighting style.
Speed Stance has the sword split into two blades. It’s fast, technical and has a lot of depth to it. It's good in one-on-one fights against skillful opponents but deeper combos hold the key to unlocking defenses and delivering massive damage.
Power Stance has the sword blades join to form one huge powerful sword. It's slow and powerful and great against tougher enemies or to break enemy defences.
Range Stance has the sword's blades extend from its handles with chains. It's the weakest of the three stances but it covers a large and wide area. It's great for taking out lots of enemies or knocking them into the air for follow-on aerial combos. It can also be used to sweep debris at enemies.
Phew, that’s a hefty set-up for the game - I’m glad that’s done and out of the way! It means that now, over the next few weeks, we’ll be able to fill in more and more detail and gossip about the game - including information on Kai, Nariko’s adopted sister, who plays a very important role in the story!
I also promise that we’ll reveal an inside view into our studio. You’ll hopefully get to see just what makes us tick, what makes us laugh and what games we’re playing. Plus, there'll be all sorts of other stuff going on that will hopefully set this blog apart. One of the things we’re going to try and do is take a retrospective look at key events in the project’s timeline: E3, on set at Weta, Tokyo Gameshow and so on.
As for where we’re at development-wise, just lately I seem to be permanently in meetings with the team and with our lovely Sony producers as we try and resolve the game's final remaining issues and really focus down on the bugs. Right now, we’re pushing hard for the finishing line. We have a very full bug database with multiple test teams around the globe (England, USA and Japan) all testing the heck out of the game to try and break it.
This means that every day we have a fresh set of challenges and questions to deal with and it’s my job to work hard with my team of leads, trying to get answers to those questions and handle the issues that arise. In marketing-speak, I'd be saying that we’re "95% done, just the last 5% left to do".
Here’s a secret: whenever you hear a developer say “We’re 95% done. Nearly there folks!", they’ll normally follow it up with something along the lines of "The last 5% is the difference between a good game and a great game and that means lots of testing, tweaking and polishing to make the final experience for the player so much better than the sum of its parts” or something like that.
So, while this is true, they also mean, "We have loads of bugs and we’re fixing them at the speed of light... Sometime soon QA is going to stop finding new bugs and we’ll be done!"
We’re also starting to really ramp up material for the marketing teams so all of you who feel a little starved of screenshots, movies, pictures of Nariko and so on can rejoice! There’s a whole chunk of stuff heading your way over the next couple of weeks and months. In the meantime, here’s an shot I took just for you guys while I was capturing images for the back of the box yesterday. I hope you enjoy it! If I can, I’ll make sure that each week I take an exclusive shot for the blog just for you…
This is a shot of Roach fighting Nariko. Roach is the bastard son of King Bohan and is a fearsome sight when he’s bearing down on you. Nariko needs to use all her skills to defeat him and keep the Heavenly Sword out of King Bohan’s clutches.
Whew! That feels a long first post but then I guess we have a lot to tell you. I’m not sure who we’re going to get to do the next entry but I suspect I’ll be twisting Tameem Antoniades's arm a little to get him online and posting on the blog. Tameem is our creative director and is totally the best person to talk a little more about the game and the design principles behind it.
Wait! I promised some random personal stuff didn’t I? Well, last night a bunch of us from the team played footie in the rain. Some bigger boys came along and showed us the true meaning of 'passing and movement' but we held our own in the end. We were definitely more Bolton than my beloved Arsenal is all I can say.
Game-wise, I’m mostly playing Shadowrun on the 360 in the evenings when I get home. I’m really rather enjoying it so if you do see me online (Gamertag: c4rp3r) then please don’t shoot me in the head ‘cos I’d much prefer a rez!
Mat.

WE DEMAND LINKS.Do it. and I'm sure it'll get a teen rating. There's some blood, but it's minimal. And MILR, I actually think they were going for a Teen rating now that I think about it, and the sweet realistic visuals and over the top violence got them into M territory, so they went ahead and put touches of blood in there. I don't see why you care SO much about it.

Can someone do a comparison shot with MGS4. That would be befitting Heavenly Sword more than any other game. It deserves to be aligned with the best out there! Just take a god damn look at those characters! I won't be surprised if Kojima walks up to Ninja Theory n expresses his love of the game ala he did to Jaffe once.

Without a speck of doubt, she's looking very gorgeous!!
Nariko should have a last name. A catchy one. That should give her a lara croft like status. You know something easy to remember. I'd want her to be r'mbered. Lara gave female protagonists a silly outlook, with boobs n shit.
Nariko, on the other hand, could be an amazing brand ambassador for Female protagonists. First name alone isn't gonna do that, IMHO. Again, a catchy last name might do the trick/wonder.

Deanoc, you've really managed to nail her eyes :) As your devs said (s'posedly Marco and Deanoc) they at NT were aiming for realistic eyes in the cutscenes and imho they've succeeded.
The characters, especially Nariko, have excellent gleam to their eyes. And god is she beautiful :)

For example, you were going to be able to impale people with anything you could throw, but they had to remove it from the game.
I sure wish they would have included it. I hate it when game developers give into the censors just to get a lower rating.
However, on a positive note:
1) These graphics look great.
2) The snow scene looks great.
3) The draw distance look great.
4) The skin shaders are absolutely fantastic!

I agree with MILR it does suck when cool features are removed just to meet a specific rating... Also, I don't see the problem with a mature rating, because I would almost guarantee the current install base for the PS3 are primarily over the age of 18. * I could be wrong...*

No, they censored themselves if anything so the game could get a T rating and more people could play it without approval from parents & stuff. Obviously it's not a big deal since the game looks great without blood, and why would censors make them turn down the blood in this game and not make SCEA turn down the blood in God of War?

They did not censor themselves. They only toned down the games to try and get a lower rating which totally sucks.
I have very mixed feelings. I absolutely hate it when censorship stops freedom of expression! I'm SO IRATE about this.

The issue of about rating MA or T is whether or not constraints of marketing impedes the creative process. That's going to be the reality of attempted blockbuster games, so we have to get over it. No floating, naked, headless, large breasted torsos for a game that's going to be one of the first big hits of the PS3.
But you can already tell that NT has been very artistic and unconventional creating the visuals, and perhaps the game mechanics (we'll see). The specific presence of disembowelment should not be a deal-breaker compared to overall package of artistic expression.

For as long as the clan can remember, the prophecies have told of a son, born of their leader, who will lead them to their rightful place in heaven. So when the leader of the clan is born a daughter, Nariko, it seems as though the prophecy shall pass, unfulfilled.
Or so they all believe...
After her father is murdered by a bloodthirsty rival, Nariko sees one last chance to change her fate and avenge her father's death. To accomplish this mission she must wield the Heavenly Sword, a weapon so powerful that every blow she strikes brings her closer to death. As she fights, Nariko will not only come to understand that revenge is a hollow endeavor, but also discover her own worth and sense of place in the world. Only then will she be able to take command of the sword, becoming its master rather than its slave, transforming her lonely, cursed life, and fulfilling her destiny.

Funny enough, the face on the left was done in Maya. The one on the right is realtime. The face on the left was the only part of the 2005 trailer that was CG. :D PEACE.

These two games look amazing!!! Goes to show how awesome of a job Ninja Theory has done.
Just look at that Kojima level FMV's. Impressive stuff.
Tbh, I find MGS4 to be MUCH more interesting, visually (not better per se, but the wrinkles and all that stuff add so much to the immersion). Those who say MGS4 looks bad need to get kicked in the nuts, Cartman style!
But then again, MGS is not as "artsy" as HS tries to be. Not that it is bad, but I usually prefer the "used and real" look (thats also why I didnt really like the graphics in GT4, but then again, they were great, but the car didnt get dirty and whatnot) over "little bit surreal". THen the other stuff like Okami, were the art is totally surreal, I love it too very much.

Nice mugshot by the way. Anticipating a role in Heavenly Sword FMV's, I assume ;) I kid I kid. Welcome in RMT ;)
Got way too much modern/retro style for HS, maybe a cameo appearance in The Getaway. :) I believe that VG has done a very compelling comparison to me and a chimera in Res (still waiting on my royalties).
I was RMT long before RMT was cool.

I think if they had kept the MA rating they would have gotten even MORE sales.
That's actually inherently wrong because many countries simply would not allow it on the shelves or even online or on PSN. Granted the American MA rating for games is a fair bit more loose than the Euro/UK equivalent. And many games which are super-violent actually get altered editions for the EU, but Ninja Theory probably lacks the manpower to do that.
You kind of need to get it out of your head that they were "convinced" to tone down the gore... I'm pretty certain it was NOT a matter of choice because they're simply working on a title that is important in so many more regions.
Censorship is absolutely 100% wrong and for the censors to encourage a game maker to alter a game is totally WRONG.
In a more generic and broad sense than just games or violence and adult themes and all, I would normally agree with you. That said, it's not as though it's going to go away. And there are plenty of people all over the world who say things similar to what you just said... until they become parents, and then they'll posture that much while at the same time pushing for more censorship and more explicitly defined ratings standards and enforcement.
I hope Ninja Theory sells the skin shader computations to other companies!
...............
you are aware that shaders aren't exactly drop-in things, right? Computations aren't the big deal, it's integration -- otherwise, every game in the world would have a great skin shader.
That too, it's not like they can legally sell it considering it's relying on principles that have been free and in the public domain (though previously not suitable for realtime) even before the original Xbox existed.
They should use six axis to let you control Nariko's hair. It is "godly" hair so when it hits someone it should knock them silly.
... hmmm... now we're entering the realm of Chinese martial arts period dramas. I have to ask, do you actually read and/or think about what you type before you hit "submit"?
it'd be awesome if his facial hair grew. He needs the beard.
I believe they've suggested it does or at least could, given the way they generate those types of components. It's actually a relatively simple thing to simulate to the effect that it's convincing (though incredibly far from being physically correct)... No one does it because it's kind of pointless efforts. Having multiple models with different extents of facial hair is more than enough to give the impression of time passing.

1. What game do you have at E3 this year?
Heavenly Sword - I saw that you, the readers here, have given us 3,700+ votes in the poll on this blog as one of the most anticipated titles of the year, so thanks!!!
2. Tell us more about your game. What’s the story?
The game is a blast to play, we’ve been flattered by the great write-ups so far. We have a great story line as well so here it is: Heavenly Sword is a story of revenge and redemption centering around our heroine Nariko…she’s the one in the screen shot above. She was born into a clan who had been guarding the Heavenly Sword for generations. They had been expecting a god to be born to reclaim the sword, but instead got Nariko. She has been seen as a curse on the clan ever since and when King Bohan invades, the idea of her being an omen of evil fractures the clan. As the King persecutes and decimates them, Nariko is the one that many blame. In a moment of desperation she decides to take charge and use the Heavenly Sword to destroy King Bohan and his army…
3. What did you do on this game that you couldn’t do on another platform?
We’re exploring how to utilize as much of the power of the PS3 as we can to create a powerful atmosphere. There’s a lot of stuff in there, and everything in the game is designed with this in mind. With the level of fidelity we have been able to achieve in performances (detailed facial animations etc), we’re looking to draw you in, to emotionally engage you. Within the combat (which is comprised of thousands of animations), we introduce cinematic cameras to show off your coolest moves. The environments are huge and filled with atmospherics to make it feel alive and real. You can smash up pretty much everything in the environment and all these objects behave naturally under physics. There’s a colossal amount of things going on at once, and you’ll know it from the moment you pick up the controller!
4. What do you think is the coolest aspect of this game?
The super-style moves are the coolest. They’re big and dramatic, you have to work quite hard to get them (especially the level 3 ones) and they completely annihilate the enemy. It’s just so much fun. My personal fav is the one where you drag a guy massively up into the air, ride him back down, slam him into the floor, and while you’re cart wheeling off him, a huge shockwave from his impact with the floor wipes out everyone else.
5. Describe it in five words or less.
Big Sword, Hot Girl!!
6. If you could sit one person in front of your game for an hour, who would it be?
Wentworth Miller (assuming I was there helping him out of course!)
7. What game do you most want an hour to sit in front of yourself (besides your own)?
Assassin’s Creed – I’ve had my eye on that for a while and can’t wait to play!
8. How many E3’s does E3 2007 mark for you?
I’ve been to ten E3’s. Does that make it E30?
9. Describe the pre-2007 E3 experience in five words or less.
Deafening, intense, fun, booth-babes, mullets.
10. Most over used phrase or expression during E3 season.
“Convergence” and “synergy.”
11. You are asked to make suggestions for an E3 survival kit- what three items HAVE to be included?
Redbull, Nurofen, a chiropodist (see my next answer)
12. What advice would you have for someone who has never experienced E3?
Don’t wear heels over three inches, you’ll regret it by lunch on the first day!
13. What’s your favorite part about developing games for a living?
The best thing about my job is being paid to have some of the most truly bizarre conversations. I can’t tell you how many very serious (and heated) conversations I’ve had about the pros and cons of dismemberment. Also, the word “bollocks” has come up in conversation a lot recently… “Bollocks” is a common term used here in Britain; it’s not a particularly naughty word, and Europe’s fine with it, the ongoing debate is whether or not the word should be present in the game for America? I love my job!

"but she's not a god or anything, she's just a regular human."
She is not a God, but she has amazing powers. First of all, she has super human strength. Additionally, it seems she has some kind of extra durability because any normal woman that frail would get broken bones while landing hard on the ground or being hit by large men.
I've always wondered if her hair was red BEFORE she picked up the Heavenly Sword. I'm curious if her hair is normal hair or has some special ability.
No, she's been trained in the martial arts by her father. So she knows what she's doing (1) and (2) the heavenly sword is what's powerful, not her (to that extent). And, of course she can take a beating, she's a video game character.:whip: If every hit from an enemy was a critical hit, you wouldn't get passed the first level.

Joystiq interview: Heavenly Sword's Nina Kristensen (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/29/joystiq-interview-heavenly-swords-nina-kristensen/)
Heavenly Sword is one of the "tentpole" games coming out for the PS3. What spurred you to develop this game and story?
We wanted to tell a big story, a big powerful story. So we went for a classic theme which is all about revenge and redemption, and then we built that story around our heroine Nariko, because she and the sword itself are the centerpiece for the whole thing.
Nariko often looks anguished and pained in some of the scenes we've seen. Does pain figure into the game or into her struggle?
She's gone through a lot, and is going through a lot in the game. So, the backstory to Heavenly Sword is that her clan are the guardians of the sword, and they're expecting a mighty warrior to be born on a certain day. Unfortunately, Nariko is born ... whoops! Absolute disaster, it's a girl, so she grows up with a really dark cloud over her head. Sure enough, 20-odd years later along comes King Bohan, and he's a maniac dictator type character, and he's absolutely obsessed with the sword. So he's coming to try and get it, and he's desecrating the land, he's pretty much butchered her whole clan, all trying to hunt down the sword. In a moment of desperation, she actually decides to pick up the sword, but of course the sword is far too powerful for a mere mortal, and it's going to kill her ... but it makes her really powerful in the meantime. So, she is out hell-bent on revenge and a lot of the anguish you see is part of her story arc, and she ultimately finds redemption after going on this massive rampage.
Women in video games are typically portrayed as scantily clad vixens with huge boobs, but Nariko seems much more realistic in a way, other than her hair, which is a character unto itself, was that a specific choice that you made early in the process?
I don't think we ever made a typical comic-book type heroine. We wanted to make someone who was real, yes I think she's sexy ... I think she's pretty hot! But, she's powerful, she has a lot of inner conviction, and that comes out all the way through, and she can really kick ass!
Are there any plans for downloadable content or multiplayer for the game? Sony really seems to be pushing adding content after the fact to add value to the games.
In terms of mutliplayer no, not for this game. This is an intense personal experience, and when we do multiplayer, and I very much want to do it in the future, it will be a game that is really focused on that so that we can make a really great game in the Heavenly Sword space that is multiplayer. In terms of downloadable content, we're kind of talking to Sony about that. I'm very keen on doing stuff for Home, I think that would be very awesome, but there's nothing ultra-confirmed about that.
What inspirations did you all draw from for the artwork and the look? It has seems to have a lot of Japanese influence in the design.
In terms of the visual look we were influenced by a lot of different things. The Eastern influence comes from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Hero which were really big inspirations. The Western influence comes from Lord of the Rings and Conan for the epic scale and the drama and the musical underscore to make it all feel really big.
A lot of people have compared aspects of the game to God of War, even going as far to call this Goddess of War, did you try to emulate that game? Some of the gameplay elements are similar, she has the blades with the chains on them, there are the keyed moments during boss battles, etc.
We've certainly heard the comparison before, and actually, hey ... to be compared against something as great as God of War, that's not so bad. But I think there's a lot of differences, certainly the style of the game ... we're all about light and beauty and elegance in a very brutal world. The storyline is very, very different, and I think they both stand alone as great products.
When you had the featured clip on Heroes, did you all plan that or was it a happy coincidence? Did you know about it when it happened?
That was Sony. As far as I'm aware, the Heroes guys came to Sony, and Sony told them 'Look, this is what you've gotta have." We were thrilled! It was very cool.
As far as other games are concerned, do you all play any games at Ninja Theory to clear your heads or take a break for awhile?
There are all sorts of games going on, you know ... things like CounterStrike and that kind of thing. We're in a software forum / chat group about games, and we're always swapping stuff all the time, like 'Check this out, check that out.'
What's a better action game? Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, or God of War?
Oh, that's a tough question! I think they all have their strengths, and they're all great games. Ninja Gaiden is obviously targeted more towards the hardcore, God of War I think is an awesome game, Devil May Cry ... I love it as well actually. I'm a big fan of this kind of genre ... I don't know, they're all good actually!

Fighting well will also net you stars. The better you fight the more stars you’ll gain. Stars will enable you to perform superstar attacks, which dispatch tons of foes quickly. (http://ps3.gamezone.com/gzreviews/p28095_02.htm)
I am guessing you could treat it as a button masher and possibly get through the game. But it sounds like the game also rewards technical skills with power ups. It cools if they are trying to take the fl0w philosophy and make it more accessible to different skill levels / play styles.
edit: ^BlackSin, I think you should reserve the phrase "button masher" for games like Untold Legends.

Another thing that gets me about this game is the explosions and partical effects in this game. They look amazing. Seeing those make me think that done right, Killzones explosings can come close to what was seen in the trailer..or at least something that doesn't pale in comparison to what was seen in the trailer. To the point where we'll be perfectly satisfied.

I agree julps seeing in-game visuals like Heavenly Swords, i do believe the KZ clip is possible. maybe not now butr give it a year or two for the devs to learn the ps3. Just look at the likes of GOW2 that games is visually amazing for a ps2 game. we will start seeing extreamly good thing coming from the ps3's 2nd coming of AAA games.
Edit: Also not sure if this vid has been put up yet or not. But enjoy.

Hell I think GoW2 is amazing for a game on any system! I'm constantly blown away by how fucking gorgeous that game is -- that's what tight-as-hell art direction does for ya... look at WoW too for a perfect example of that.
I agree with you -- It may not be the trailer feature-for-feature, but as devs learn the tricks and so on of the hardware I think we'll get something identical as an end result.

There just seems something inherently wrong with the bazooka in this game (IMO). While Im sure it will be a nice addition to gameplay elements, I really just want to kick ass sushi bar style.

im guessing there will be multiple levels of difficulty depending on your finger dexterity and IQ count. froim the videos ive seen the game itself doenst look hard or night impossible but it doesnt look simple either, its hard to tell how easy those moves are to pull of by just watching them.

Seeing this video, the transitions between interactive cutscenes and gameplay appears somewhat abrupt. I think a fast morph or a camera flash would be nice so its both less jarring and so the player knows when its time to start normal gameplay.
