Meh...I've said this like a million times, but now I'm officially saving up for a computer. I figure I could just get a Dell or something because that's easy...and there's a 10% off thing if you order online.
So which model is the best for the value right now? I need one that can be upgraded and etc...

Have a friend who knows how to build PC's make you one. Go to the store, buy the parts you need, then give them to him and get the PC made. You'll save money on things you don't need, like a 56k modem.
Buying ones from Dell or whatever means they install crappy programs that you can't get rid of and use unstandard parts so you can't upgrade unless buying from them. That's how Compaq is anyways...

I see....I'll have to consult my friend it seems then.
He was my backup plan, now Dell has moved into the "plan B" slot and Billy has moved into the "plan A - initial plan" slot.

the best dell model is the one that they dont sell. dell sucks ass. their customer service is just a bunch of stupid indians reading off a list on their computer. their computers arent very reliable in my experience. just build your own.

Indeed Dell support is terrible. I asked a person in Wal-mart that was looking for a replace graphics card for a dell computer what he was looking for. He told me he called dell, and they told that to fix the screen not showing up when the computer booted, take out each explansion card one by one, and clean it with the tip of an eraser. This is a perfect example of "The faster the phone rings in the sales department, the slower it is answered in Technical Support".
I would look into ABS computers. They offer good prices, use standered parts, and offer that one thing that will give you peace of mind...Make that two.
1: Life time live tech support over the phone.
2: One year warrenty.
---------------------
This way , if somthing terrible happens, you will not have to deal with each part individually, you can just send it to them and they will take card of anything sickening your system. This is a better way to doing things, for ABS is a great company when it comes to tech support. Not in the league with VOODOO/ AlienWare, and Falcon Northwest, but very good support compared to Gategate/ HP / Dell / anyone else big named.

no no no.
ABC is a no-name computer company. ABS has been around for a while and is usually featured in all of your standard computer magizines.
You can find thier site at :: ABS COMPUTERS ( With and "S" not "C".) (www.abspc.com)

I never said dell has a poor company hardware wise, they do make good quality computers, but they do have a tendancy to overchange when you attempt to upgrade the base systems. Dell also has terrible tech support...In about 4 other languages, not one being english. They as well offer software for you computer that you may not want, and there really isn't a way to remove it before you order. This being 6 month of AOL, and other dell "SPECIALS".
In reguards to ABS, they usually cut the crap, throw out the fireworks and sparklers, and build a system that has maximum performance for the price, and cut the extra fat. By all means, if you want lightup sparkling case fans, you may want to look elsewhere. You can get such sparkling things from ABS, but I wound go elsewhere if you want them.

The NEC flat screen is pretty cheap on ABS. I can get an awesome computer with a NEC flat screen for like, as much as that Dell with the free flat screen.
