Im not sure anyone particularly cares, but this is a grass roots notification:).
I live in Terre Haute IN, and Sony is currently our 4th largest employer in the region and has been solid in the city for some time now. They have recently met with the city council for tax abatements in order to build modifications to their current plant to increase production of the PS3 and BR disks and packaging (as much of their work is often contracted out here).
I am related to one member of the council and familiar with others (and intend to run in the next 4-8 years) and it seems as if the abatements will be passed here locally (although this is politics guys). Where there has been no information as to whether this will increase labor requirements for the plant, although that would be a reasonable guess.
While many of us look at Sony as a large corporation we often forget just how much any corporation can do for a small economy/community. With much of the interests and information given on a worldwide scale I found it important to reinforce Sony's role in any given community.
