Tears for Fears combined melodic vocals with beautiful ethereal synthetics in a high quality production wrapped in lyrics with meaning, purpose and emotion that basically shit on half of your list. Then again, it's all about 'taste'.
You don't want me to go all out. You won't know whether you've been banned, deleted or digitally anal probed.

Maybe it was just Gary Jule pitiful effort of a remake called Mad World that put me off them. I'm not really one for emotions either, if I want to hear that I will just go down to Single's Night and the social club and listen to all the fourty-something women whose husbands have left them to rear two kids on their own.

I've been rereading these lists again, and I've got to say, some of you sort of need to extend your music tastes. I'm only really referring to one person here, but only listening to Linkin Park and a handful of rappers and bands.....check out some of the shit on other peoples lists.

What do you mean feel the same? In terms of I hate it? If that's what you mean I do hate it. Stuff like Duran Duran, Spandau Balet and other crap like that is a definate no no.
I am probally the generation below the lovers of it, being born in the late 80's an all (1987).

Heh...like Perfect Agent I hate all this 80's pop shit. Nah, nowadays ,only one radio station refuses to play any rock at all (capital fm), they even did How You Remind Me without any bass. Most people have moved on from Pop, only Capital FM stay loyal to manufactured shit.
Viper
04-17-2004, 11:15 PM
80's pop and todays pop = not the same thing.
Back in the 80's you had lots of middle aged musicians and groups that were hugely popular but today if the musicians are over 25, they are in a minority. The music had soul to it.
Peter
04-17-2004, 11:21 PM
Oh, like Phil Collins and elton John and those people. Hmm, compilations sell pretty well nowadays of those kind of people, but if you look at the success of Evanescense here in the UK as well, and The Darkness' incredible success, it seems that people have left behind the old days. In 2003, plenty of compilations were made for those people and few entered at number 20 or below. Take for example a band called Lost Prophets. I thought that barely anyone knew who the hell they were apart from viewers of channels such as MTV2. They got to number fricking 2, an incredible feat.
Point again, people have moved on in the UK, and are as with the times as the US now

Dude, 80's pop was, in general, awesome music. The late 70's and early-mid 80's created some amazing bands...that were actually pop. The 90's were gay as shit, so hopefully this new millenium will birth some great, yet still popular, bands.
